Gary Heeman joins the Lernerville team in 2017 assuming public relations director duties from announcer Eric Westendorf. His journalism background started in 2008, working for United States College Hockey Online (USCHO.com), covering the Robert Morris University Men's Division 1 NCAA Hockey program. An avid fan of dirt track racing, Gary started Lernerville Pick'Em, a weekly fantasy dirt racing game in 2010 on the now defunct fantasy dirt racing website.
In 2014, he started The Dirt Network, a multi-purpose dirt racing blogsite which offers stories of local and national interest, commentary and race recaps written from the track, as well as Lernerville weekly and National Dirt Racing Event Pick'Em contests. The site offers interactive social media opportunities and dirt racing updates on both Facebook and Twitter.
Gary can also be found on the pages of both Dirt Late Model and Dirt Modified Magazines where he contributes driver feature stories and also serves as a columnist at Dirt Late Model Magazine. He also assisted with the newly formed Pittsburgh Hockey Digest.com, covering college and amateur hockey in the region.
As a full time occupation, Gary serves as a CDM (Certified Dietary Manager) involving managing nutritional service operations for elderly and dementia unit residents, or for those in physical rehabilitation centers.
