Tony Stewart's All Star Circuit of Champions Sprints make their way to the Action Track this Friday night, and they're ready to take on a field of local talent that has been gaining confidence in a variety of places so far in 2017. Â Led by 2016 champion Chad Kemenah, the touring All Star regulars have undergone a transformation of sorts with a roster that now includes Central PA standout Ryan Smith, Â Ohio hot shoe Caleb Helms who has had a very strong start to the 2017, and new additions in Max Stambaugh as well as Hunter Mackison and Jordan Mackison and several others.
But it will also be a homecoming of sorts for Lernerville alumni as well. Â The "Steel City Outlaw" Tim Shaffer leads a cast of drivers who have called Lernerville home on a weekly basis which also includes former track champions Carl Bowser and Brandon Spithaler. Â Also joining the action as touring members of the series are Brandon and Brent Matus and John Garvin Jr. Â They'll all be looking to keep the $5,000 winner's check in Pennsylvania.
Meahwhile, the weekly contingent has been preparing early this season. Title contenders AJ Flick and Dan Shetler have been taking on stiff competition both in Central PA and in All Star action at Bedford Speedway this past Sunday night. Shetler had a rather impressive weekend taking the feature win on Friday night and followed it up with a top five finish at Bedford and looks to continue the hot streak into the weekend.
A complete show awaits fans on Friday night with time trials, heats, dashes and a 30 lap feature for the All Star Sprints who will be joined by the Racesaver 305 Sprints who grace the clay for the first time in 2017, Â and the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds. Â Two weeks ago, Rocky Kugel took the honors with a thrilling victory in RUSH Sportsman Modified action, besting a 24 car field.
With an unclear weather situation at hand, fans are encouraged to stay tuned to Lenerville.com, and our social media outlets on facebook and twitter for any weather related information and updates.
Grandstands will open to the public at 5 PM with time trials occurring at approximately 6:45 and racing starting at 7:30 PM. Â General admission tickets are $25 with students aged 11-17 priced at $15 while children 10 and under are free. Â Pit passes for this Friday night are $40.
