Sarver, PA (August 16, 2017) An appearance from the round yellow globe in the sky would be an overdue and welcome sight for this Friday's Fab4 night of racing action, Fueled by Turner's Premium Iced tea. Â The rains that have invaded The Action Track on each of the last three Fab Four Friday Nights have boiled the rest of regular season down to two nights of racing, making them all the more important for both drivers and fans.
Friday will be a multi-layered promotional night with Big Rig Night scheduled. There will be several Rigs on display for all to see on the concourse behind the grand stands and will take a lap around the track. Â Also this Friday, it's Pittsburgh Circle Track Club night as well as the rescheduled Twin State Auto Club Night! All members of either of these racing clubs will be admitted free with their membership cards. Both clubs do an outstanding job of promoting the sport in our area and we are honored to have those members in the stands. Â Also, the Turner's Tea Bird will be on display with samples of their outstanding and refreshing iced tea flavors! And, the folks from Advance Auto Parts will be on hand, greeting the crowd with discounts and promotions as well.
This Friday night, with perhaps the most promising forecast in recent weeks, action will resume with just two chances left for drivers to improve their positions in the season standings, or perhaps make their case for a track championship. Â With the shortened slate of racing remaining, the battles for the title in the Diehl Automotive DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds, Precise Racing Products DIRTcar Late Models, and Millerstown Pic-A-Part DIRTcar/RUSH Pro Stocks may be more for improving position and reaching the goal of one regular season win, or adding one more win onto some impressive win totals in progress.
Michael Norris leads the parade in the Late Models with a commanding 33 point lead over Alex Ferree and will be looking for his fifth win of the season, while Ferree and Matt Lux will be looking for their first wins of the season. Â Corey McPherson leads Tyler Dietz by 42 points heading into Friday night and could potentially wrap up the championship if he should maintain a 40 plus point margin over Dietz at the conclusion of their 20 lap main event.
Mat Williamson can earn his seventh regular season win of the season and eighth overall with a win this Friday. Williamson holds a 26 point lead over Brian Swartzlander who has one feature win this season. Meanwhile, Jeremiah Shingledecker, Rex King Jr., Dave Murdick, Rick Regalski and Steve Feder are all eyeing their first win of the year as the weeks wind down.
The hottest points battle belongs to the Sprint Cars though as AJ Flick leads Dan Shetler by just five points with two races left. The championship chase took a turn this past Saturday night as Jack Sodeman Jr., who was just 13 points back of Flick for the lead, suffered back injuries at Sharon Speedway. Sodeman has indicated that he will have a replacement driver in the car until he is ready to drive again.
Fans are reminded that if they have any unused rain checks from July 28th, August 4th or August 11th, they may be redeemed for admission this Friday night as paid pit pass armbands from those dates.
Pits will open at 4 PM on Friday night with grandstands opening at 5 PM and racing starting at 7:30 sharp! Adult general admission is $14, $11 for seniors, $7 for students and children 10 and under are free of charge. Pit passes are $20 for DIRTcar Members, $30 for Non Members.
