Action Track Preview- Battles Heating up in all Four Divisions

Tommy Hein Photo

Sarver, PA (May 20, 2021) The last cool and rainy spring nights appear to have moved to the rear view mirror if the forecasts are to be believed and the action on the track will be heating up on Friday night as the Fab4 Revved up with Marburger Farm Dairy graces the clay at The Action Track.  Teams have had two chances to hone their setups and make adjustments thus far as the second week of six straight appearances from the Fab4 weekly divisions rolls out. This Friday nights program is presented by Junk Crusher, the areas premier mobile dumpster compacting service

Heres what to look for¦

In the Peoples Natural Gas Sprint Cars, defending champion AJ Flick comes into the night just two markers ahead of Sye Lynch in the division standings. Lynch has looked impressive thus far, taking the opening night feature victory while finishing in the top five last Friday night as part of the 1000th Sprint Car race in Lernerville history.  Meanwhile, Flick, who has a feature victory at Tri City Raceway Park this season, nearly pulled off the feature win in that race as he attempted to slide eventual feature winner Jason Shultz in the final set of turns on each of the final two laps but came up just short.  Two time champion Jack Sodeman Jr., currently third in the standings has started this season with a hot hand as he has collected two feature wins at Tri City and has shown a great deal of speed early on.   Expect the three drivers to continue their hard fought but clean battles this Friday while the speedy Carl Bowser and Michael Bauer look to get into Terry Bowser Victory Lane for the first time this season.

Early on, the most exciting features in terms of back and forth battles for the lead and nail biting finishes that come down to the wire goes, belong to the Precise Racing Products Late Models.  In their first appearance this year,  Alex Ferree got out to the early lead and was eclipsed by Colton Flinner, who then was overtaken by a hard charging Ken Schaltenbrand, making his winning pass with just over two laps to go.  Last Friday night, Michael Norris looked well on his way to yet another feature victory when Ferree came charging through the pack from the tail of the field to passing Norris for the lead in the second half of the race. Norris would make his way back around but not before some very tense moments with less than five laps to go.  Look for the unexpected to become the norm with another wild feature finish this Friday night.

Jeremiah Shingledecker has had a hot hand as of late, snagging the opening night win at The Action Track and a 358 Modified feature win at Tri City Speedway on Sunday night.  However, Dave Murdick brings the points lead into the night in the Diehl Automotive DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds, as he holds a single point lead over 2020 champion Garrett Krummert and two over Shingldedecker.  Eight time track champion Brian Swartzlander missed the opening night festivities while partaking in Super DIRTcar festivities at Bristol Motor Speedway, but made up a good deal of the points he missed by winning last Fridays feature, taking the lead from Krummert following a late race restart to secure his first win at Lernerville since 2019. Look for Krummert, Murdick, Rex King Jr and Sr. to be heavy in the hunt for the win as well along with last years runner up John Mollick.

In the Millerstown Pic-A-Part Penn-Ohio Pro Stocks, Corey McPherson looks primed to make yet another run at what would be a seventh track title.  Last Friday, McPherson put forth a strong performance in a hard fought battle with Penn-Ohio series standout Jason Fosnaught which resulted in a McPherson win at the end of 20 laps. Meanwhile, once again, Joey Zambotti finds himself in the hunt just seven points behind in the standings and will be looking for his first win of the 2021 Lernerville campaign. Daryl Charlier had bested McPherson in another classic battle to etch his name on the opening night feature winner list on April 23.  Expect more down to the wire finishes and edge of the seat action from the Pro Stocks on Friday night.

Pits will open at 4 PM on Friday night with Grandstands opening at 5 PM and racing starting at 7:30 PM.  Adult general admission is $15. Seniors are admitted for $12, students ages 11-17 are priced at $10 and children 10 and under are free of charge! We look forward to seeing you Friday night!
