Sarver, PA (July 22, 2022) The action was hot for the RUSH Summer Showcase at Lernerville Speedway as the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Late Models, Sportsman Modifieds, and Sprints were joined by the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) and Allegheny Sprint Tour on Friday, July 22.
Isaac Chapple took the lead from Dallas Hewitt on lap 8 of the 25-lap BOSS feature event to claim his first victory of the season with the series but second in a row at ˜The Action Track as he won the 2021 BOSS visit at Lernerville. Steve Drevecki finished second followed by Hewitt in third with Brian Ruhlman in fourth and Carmen Perigo, Jr. finishing fifth.
˜Ive run in the top-five this year more than I ever have before. We really wanted to win a race, Chapple said in Terry Bowser Excavating Victory Lane. ˜Nothing feels like winning, its good to finally get it done. The racetrack was a lot different than last year when we were here, were usually pretty good when it gets slick like this, but those guys were racing so hard in front of me, it took me a while to get a clear lane. Then I cleared them, and my fear was that the track would start taking rubber and I wouldnt find it. With about two or three (laps) to go, I heard a car ripping around my right rear, so I knew somebody found rubber. I moved up enough in turns three and four to catch it and thats probably what won us the race.
Daryl Charlier used his outside pole starting position to take the lead on lap one and lead all 30 laps of the caution-free, $3,000 to-win RUSH Flynns Tire Touring Series main event. Once Charlier grabbed the lead on the opening stanza, he was never seriously challenged and masterfully worked through lapped traffic to finish ahead of Jeremy Wonderling, who finished second. Kyle Lukon came home third with David Pangrazio in fourth and Joe Martin rounding out the top-five finishers.
˜It feels really good, especially here, I love racing here, Charlier said in victory lane after his first Flynns Tire RUSH Touring Series win of the year. ˜Weve struggled with the setup for a while, we tried some stuff at Sharon and was able to come home with third, we ran the same thing here with little minor adjustments and, glad we were able to pull it off. When asked about maneuvering through lapped traffic, Daryl said, ˜That was fun, I had a lot of fun, Im not sure how close everyone else was behind me but, I was just trying to keep the car straight as much as possible, stay out of any potential trouble, and pick them off as quick as I could.
John Mollick captured his second career win in a RUSH Sprint after making his way past Brian Hartzell on lap 13. Hartzell held on for second ahead of pole-sitter Zack Wilson, who finished third ahead of Gale Ruth, Jr. in fourth and Joe Buccola in fifth. ˜I cant believe we just won on that racetrack, Mollick said in victory lane. ˜Thats not my style, thats not my track but hey, we got a win tonight! This class is getting tougher and tougher every year, everybodys picking up their game and learning. Its a struggle to keep up with these guys, these young kids are coming up quick.
Rob Kristyak led the first 23 laps of the RUSH Sportsman Modified feature before Garrett Krummert took the lead on lap 24 and lead the final 2 circuits to claim his 25th career RUSH Modified win ahead of Ayden Cipriano, who got by third place finisher Kristyak on the final lap. J.C. Boyer finished fourth while Justen Shea finished fifth.
˜We were all just kind of riding around out there, we werent very good, and I was hoping for a caution, then after the first caution, I seen was Kristyak was doing with the 5 car (Cipriano), then the second caution he did the same thing and left it (a line) open so I had to go, Krummert explained in Terry Bowser Excavating Victory Lane. ˜I told my crew that we were going to pack up and go home after the heat race because we were so bad, we werent perfect, but we were a little bit better than we were in the heat.
In the Allegheny Sprint Tour 305s feature it was Greg Dobrosky also leading every lap enroute to the victory after holding off the hard charging Justin Clark, who finished second by .579 seconds. Steven Kenawell, Jr., wound up third with Jeremy Kornbau in fourth and Jim Morris finished fifth.
