Mid-Season Championships Take Center Stage Friday Night
Sarver, PA (June 14, 2023) On Friday night, there will be a different twist added to the Fab4 Racing program as our Mid-Season Championships take center stage. All feature winners will receive guaranteed starting spots to some of the biggest events of the season which will include a punched ticket to the Firecracker 100 for the Precise Racing Products Late Model feature winner, and for the Peoples Natural Gas Sprint Car winner, a coveted starting spot to the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup. Meanwhile, the Diehl Automotive Big Block Modifieds and Millerstown Pic-A-Part Pro Stocks will both be vying for guaranteed starting spots to the Steel City Stampede in October.
Coming into Friday night, AJ Flick has a relatively firm grip of the standings in Peoples Natural Gas Sprint Car standings and currently rides a three race winning streak which also includes a $3,000 main event win in Western Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek action two weeks ago. Flick has chalked up four feature wins at The Action Track thus far in six races while Dan Kuriger and Brandon Spithaler stopped Flick on back to back weeks back in May for the only other feature wins from anyone not named Flick.
Tyler Dietz currently maintains a 12 point lead over former track champion Michael Norris and has been consistently good week in and week out. And, sometimes better than good as evidenced by his feature win two weeks ago with the Precise Racing Products Late Models. However, if Norris's performance last Friday night is any indicator of future performance, then look for a potential dogfight to the end in August as Norris weaved in, out and through the 16 cars ahead of him en route to the feature win last Friday night. Norris has two wins on the season thus far with Dietz, 2022 champion John Garvin Jr and an invading Gregg Satterlee have accounted for the divisional wins thus far in 2023.
Speaking of a dogfight to the end in August, look no further than the Diehl Automotive Big Block Modified points standings and you'll find another potential battle to the finish as former track champions Garrett Krummert and Rex King Jr. are separated by just one point through six race nights this season. 2022 champion Jeremiah Shingledecker lies 22 points back coming into Friday night with eight-time champion Brian Swartzlander still within striking distance, 28 markers behind the leader. Through six weeks, there have been six different winners in the division thus far, including all four of the aforementioned drivers plus one win apiece for invaders Mat Williamson and Erick Rudolph who made visits in the month of May.
Tyler Dietz currently stands on top of both Millerstown Pic-A-Part Pro Stock point standings and on the winner's list and by very comfortable margins at that. Dietz brings a 32 point lead into Friday night over Cody Koteles and like Flick in the Peoples Sprints, has a nearly unheard of winning percentage of .667 with the Pro Stocks. Dietz has shown a flair for the dramatic though, as all of his wins have seen him driving in some hard fought, door to door battles to nearly the last lap. Last Friday night Dietz came out on top from a heavyweight battle between himself and Chris Schneider for the win in thrilling fashion to the delight of the crowd on hand. Christian Schneider and Jake Dietz own the other two feature wins thus far this season.
Pits will open at 4 PM on Friday with grandstands opening at 5 PM and racing starting at 7:30 PM. General admission will be $18 on Friday night and children ages 10 and under are admitted free as always. Pit passes will be available for $30. The entire night of racing will be streamed live on the Dirt.tv Network for subscribers. Both monthly ($24.99) and annual ($149.99) subscriptions are available and include every lap live from Lernerville Speedway plus all of our archive material and special events from around the area including Demolition Derbies, Rodeo, Amateur Boxing, Motocross and much more.
Following Friday night's racing, The Action Track prepares to play host to the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and Hovis Auto and Truck Supply RUSH Late Models for three straight nights of racing June 22-24 as the 17th Annual Firecracker 100 presented by Big River Steel takes center stage.
