18th Annual Firecracker 100 At a Glance; What to Expect; Ticket Into; Important Times

Sarver, PA (June 19, 2024) The World’s finest Super Late Model pilots are now on their way to do battle for three straight nights at The Action Track for the 18th annual Firecracker 100 presented by Big River Steel. Aside from the racing, there’s concerts, an autograph session with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series drivers on Saturday, June 22 just prior to racing and even more daily fun to be had as part of the inaugural Firecracker Fest.

What to Expect

Expect three great nights of racing with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Late Models as they compete for the Firecracker 100 and Bill Emig Memorial Championships respectively. Starting with preliminary night one on Thursday, June 20, the drivers will partaking in time trials, heat races, last chance showdowns and twin 25 lap features Thursday and Friday for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series while the RUSH Late Models complete their hot laps and time trials on Thursday, heat races and qualifying dash on Friday night. Then on Saturday night, The Lucas Oil Late Models will start with heat races lined up by their best feature finish from the preliminary nights, followed by last chance showdown races and the $50,000-to-win, 100 lap Firecracker 100 finale. While the RUSH Late Models will start off with last chance showdowns on Saturday night, followed by the $20,000-to-win, 50-Lap Bill Emig Memorial.

Coming into the weekend, the outcome of Saturday’s racing is wide open as former champions Brandon Overton, Tim McCreadie, 2023 champion Ricky Thornton Jr all attempt to etch their name onto the winner’s list one more time while household names such as Jonathan Davenport, Mike Marlar, Devin Moran and Hudson O’Neal look to take their first career title. They’ll meet a local crop of drivers from our own weekly Precise Racing Products Late Model series, headed by former preliminary night winner Michael Norris who has managed five victories in six races thus far in 2024. Meanwhile, the RUSH Late Models will look to add a third name to a trophy that in five years has seen just two winners as Florida’s Mark Whitener and Pennsylvania native Max Blair have dominated the event since it’s rebirth in 2019 in the Bill Emig Memorial, one of the richest purses for Crate Late Model racing in the entire country.

Off The Track

The Firecracker 100 weekend is about more than just racing. This year, we’ve got two special post-race concerts following the final checkered flag as The S’Wearing Hats perform on Thursday night, bringing their upbeat repertoire of crowd friendly songs from the 1980s and 90s, and on Friday night national country music performer Wyatt Turner brings his original songs to the stage. Speaking of stage, we have a new entertainment area located behind the backstretch which offers some general seating and hillside seating as well! Aside from the stage, there’s still plenty to enjoy at Sprankle Woods as many different outdoor games including bocce, disc golf and cornhole and more plus, stock up on your camping and food supplies at Sprankle’s Neighborhood Market. Shuttles to Sprankle Woods and the market will be occurring from 10 am to 4 pm every day through the 22nd. Shuttles can be found at the speedway office parking area on route 356.
