Trenca Takes Home Top 10 During 10th annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals
Inside Line Promotions – OHSWEKEN, Ontario, Canada (Sept. 16, 2014) – Joe Trenca is all smiles following a top 10 during the 10th annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals last weekend.
It marked the sixth top 10 of the season for Trenca, who piloted a car for Chuck Hebing during the $12,000-to-win Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints and Patriot Sprint Tour co-sanctioned event at Ohsweken Speedway on Saturday.
“At the last minute Chuck Hebing asked me to drive his other car,” Trenca said. “He’s got a really good car so I took advantage of it. I can't thank the Hebing family enough for the opportunity."
Trenca timed in sixth quickest during his heat race qualifying, which lined him up on the outside of the third row for his heat race.
“We didn’t get that good of a start in the heat race,” he said. “On the first corner I picked off a guy. I was rolling the bottom really good. They only took the top three so I knew I needed to get spots.”
Trenca rallied to score a runner-up result, which locked him into the feature and gave him the most passing points. That started him seventh in the main event.
“In the feature we were around fifth and sixth for a while,” he said. “Then we got to fourth for a while and we had a red flag. I was really good with a full load of fuel. It was really good early. Once the fuel load burned off I got a little loose and the track slicked off real bad. We fell back to seventh and then Chuck got me at the line.”
Trenca ended with an eighth-place result.
“I was really happy,” he said. “Just to run up there, the quantity of cars never changes but the quality gets better every year. There were a lot of good cars who didn’t make the show. I was lucky to be able to transfer through the heat race and have a good car all night.”
He is scheduled to race this Friday at Fonda Speedway in Fonda, N.Y., with the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints.
