26 Promotions – Yuma, AZ – (August 16, 2018) – Blake Rogers is headed to Irwindale Speedway this weekend with the Lucas Oil Modified Series for the second round of the SpillVak Triple Crown.

Following back to back top-ten finishes at Kern County and Rocky Mountain Raceways, Rogers enters this weekend looking to continue that streak and improve upon his finish from last year.

“Our best finish at Irwindale came last year with an eighth-place finish,” said Rogers. “In past years at Irwindale, we really haven’t had a big enough motor to stay up with some of the big horsepower guys.”

Irwindale will be the second half-mile oval the series has visited in the past three races, but the similarities between Kern County and Irwindale end there.

“Irwindale and Kern are two completely different tracks, to me Kern is like a five-eighths-mile even though it says it’s a half-mile. Kern has really long straightaways, and you run the bottom there,” explained Rogers. “At Irwindale, the straightaways aren’t as long, and the preferred line is the top. I think we will have a better shot at Irwindale just because the straightaways aren’t as long, so the bigger motor guys won’t have as much of an advantage, but it will still be difficult for us to keep up with them just because horsepower is such a big deal when we go to these types of tracks.”

Rogers and his team will be focused on getting the car to drive through the corners this weekend as they seek their third straight top-ten finish.

“Irwindale is a fun track because its one of those tracks where you actually are able to get to full throttle,” he explained. “Irwindale can be challenging for us because horsepower is a must and you also run the top groove which makes passing really interesting because you basically have to slide job the car in front of you coming out of the corner. I think we have a top-ten car if we can get the car to rotate but not over rotate because the right rear really starts to go away and it can become a problem with how close we are to the wall. If you over correct just a little you can guarantee you’ll bounce off the wall.”

Racing action at Irwindale Speedway gets underway Friday night with practice, Saturday kicks off with practice followed by Qualifying, the Quick 6 Dash, and the 75-lap feature event.

Blake Rogers would like to thank Lucas Oil, FIRM Inc., MGM Design, Jacks Auto Parts, Mitchell’s Merchant Patrol, Pacesetter Home Centers, Arce Race Engines, Dune Company of Yuma, Big W Sales, and Super Clean for their continued support.
