Kyle Beard
Beard test waters in Summer Nationals stops at Springfield and Lake Ozark
Making his debut with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals, Kyle Beard was one of 28 Late Models on hand at Springfield Raceway (Springfield, Mo.) on Thursday evening for the ninth round of the Hell Tour. After topping the speed charts in time trials, Beard picked up a 10-lap heat race victory, which positioned him third on the starting grid for the opening night feature. With $5,000 on the line, Kyle entered the infield pit area on the ninth lap, dropping him to the tail. With 31 laps to gain some ground, Beard salvaged a 12th place outing. The following night at Lake Ozark Speedway (Eldon, Mo.), Kyle secured his spot into the $5,000-to-win A-Main with a second place finish in his heat behind Brian Shirley. Rolling off fifth, Beard was an early retiree from the 40-lapper on lap 29.
