Lebanon, Oregon- As the season nears closer and closer the Willamette Speedway has big news to announce. Jeremy Means will be atop the flag stand all season long for both the 1/3-mile and Kart races at the historic venue. The twenty-year-old Lebanon native has been attending the races since early childhood and took some time to explain what this means for him.

“I’m very excited,” commented Means, “I grew up attending races at Willamette and watched Bill Arnold flag for years. Growing up at the track some kids dreamed to drive race cars while I wanted to flag.”

That dream has come true. In fact it was Bill Arnold that gave him his first flagging job back in 2008 at Willamette for the Kart program. Since then Means has flagged at the Albany Motorsports Park and Salem Indoor Speedway when not at flagging at the Lebanon facility.

“I’m really excited for the Clair Cup event in May,” talking about which race he anticipates to flag the most, “it’s really cool that the Schrams put on a race in memory of Clair Arnold. I also think it’s great for his family too. Evelyn, Bill, and Lori (Arnold) are all great people.”

The Willamette Speedway will host a Test and Tune play date this Saturday April 13th while a practice for the Karts will take place on Sunday the 14th. On Saturday general admission is free to all spectators wishing to sit in the grandstands and watch practice while pit passes are $15.00. Everything is scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM and last until Dusk. For Sunday’s Kart practice the times are scheduled to be from Noon until 4:00 PM. Car and driver entries are $20.00 and Pit Passes will cost $10.00.

April 20th is expected to be the first race of 2013 with DIRTcar Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Mini Trucks all in action. The Kart season will open up on Friday the 19th.

The Willamette Speedway has operated since the 1960’s and is a facility where high car counts and great racing are the norm. The venue will hosts weekly action comprising of DIRTcar Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Sportsman, Super Sports, Street Stocks, and Mini Trucks.
