Even though it was a non-point affair the IMCA Modifieds would put on some exciting racing at Willamette Speedway on Tuesday September 3rd. Monte Bischoff of Medford would take care of business to visit victory lane for the third time of the season at the historic 1/3-mile clay oval. The Mods would be the support class for the evening as the World of Outlaw Sprint Series made their return visit to the Lebanon facility.

When the green flag would drop Mark Wauge of Jacksonville would put his mount to the front of the field to lead the early stages. The Skinner Autoplex/Meineke Car Care Center/Hoppes Construction #1M Loose Gruff, of Wauge, would battle hard with Monte Bischoff for the lead with Bischoff eventually taking over the top spot on lap six.

While Bischoff led a car that was about to go a lap down spun directly in front of Bischoff’s Payroll Specialties Inc./Hoppes Construction/D&S Automotive #F1 Impressive. Bischoff would get on the binders and nearly wiped out the slower car but somehow missed him and retained the lead. Bischoff would waste no time to rebuild his good sized lead until a few late cautions would bunch things up.

Despite the late race restarts Bischoff was able to master them and each time would develop a decent interval between himself and second place when the field would exit turn two. Bischoff would pace the field for the remaining distance to make it back to victory lane.

Brett James of Albany would finish in second in his James Gang Pizza/Linn-Benton Insurance/Lebanon Auto Body #26 GRT while third was the AAMCO Transmissions and Total Car Care-Corvallis & Newport/Franco’s 76 Station/Driving Force Graphics #44 Shaw of Monmouth’s Sam Potter. The rest of the top five finishers would consist of Matt Mitchell of Vancouver, Washington in his A-Line Concrete Cutting/Shepard Performance/Van Raden Industries #15M Rayburn in fourth and Mark Wauge in fifth.

The Willamette Speedway will be back in action this Saturday September 7th for the next installment of the 2013 season. Classes in action will include the DIRTcar Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, and Sportsman.
