Lebanon, Oregon- Albany's Matthew Drager was quite pleased with his 2015 IMCA Modified debut at Willamette Speedway last Saturday. Drager would finish sixth in the main event on Saturday April 25th. He will look to take some of that momentum and build off of it at Fight Hunger Night on May 2nd.
“I made a mistake and got myself in some trouble early but we came from the back so I can't complain too much,” Drager would say.
The Drager Performance team has had quite the off season Drager would claim, “We’ve stayed pretty busy working on various projects as Team GRT has been growing, we’ve been repairing cars and helping customers get some new cars together so my car was definitely on the back burner at times but that’s how it goes and I’m really excited for the direction we are headed”.
Drager Performance is excited about the 2015 season as the team is experiencing early season success and is anticipating the debut of some new cars in the coming weeks.
“The car is really good right now,” he would say about his own program, “We did some testing a couple of weeks ago and found some things to improve on but the driver needs to knock the rust off and we should be in good shape.”
He is once again behind the wheel of the Drager Performance/GRT Race Cars/Hooligan Designs/AED Performance Carburetors/Advance Auto Parts/Riverside Pet Crematory #21A GRT by Drager Performance. In 2014 he would finish eighth in final points and posted three top fives including a second on May 24th.
“We need to keep building on last season, get some top three's and that elusive first career win. Racing in the mods that’s easier said than done with guys like Dustin (Cady) and Collen (Winebarger) on top of their game but we will get there.”
Other classes in competition will be the Super Dirt Late Models, Sportsman, and Street Stocks. Pit Gates will open at 1:00 PM, the Pit Meeting will take place at 2:30, Front Gates open at 3:30, and Racing starts at 6:00.
