Lebanon, Oregon- Willamette Speedway had one last evening to record before the racing. The Saturday, September 21st race was reserved for Championship Night presented by Peterson Machinery. Seven classes were on the card as well as the unique Beer Cup races. In action included the Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, Sportsman, Street Stocks, Wingless Sprint Series, and Big Sky Landscaping IMCA Stock Car Series. The Stock Car race report is covered in a separate news story.

It would be a night to be remembered for Jeff Rash. The Lebanon native battled practically the whole race with Randy Boyd. Rash kept him in check to win his first career Super Late Model victory at Willamette. Joey Tanner accrued enough points to win his second consecutive title.

John Campos battled all race long in the IMCA Modified main event. When the checkered flag dropped the Keizer veteran won his second victory of the year at the historic 1/3-mile clay oval. Bricen James managed to pick up his first career Willamette IMCA Modified title.

Steve Moore was in an element of his own in the Super Sports. Running for car owner B.J. Donofrio, Moore of Scio, his fourth straight win in the class. Donofrio ended up being named the track champion for 2019. Jeff Rash, doing double duty, parked himself in victory lane for the fourth occasion in the Sportsman. Rash won the battle but Crawfordsville chauffeur Tom Yeack was triumphant in the war for the points championship.

Albany’s Dakota Godard, also doing double duty, picked up an impressive Street Stock victory. It is the second time he has hit the pay dirt on the front straightaway. The combination of Mikey Burnham and Mikey Brakeall put together an incredible race season to be declared track title holders. The Wingless Sprint Series feature went non-stop. Eagle Creek youngster Lindsay Barney was the driver to best the field while Rob Lindsey, from Sherwood, earned his fourth straight series championship.

Earlier in the program was the Beer Cup. It featured the Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, Sportsman, and Street Stocks. The five races were six-car going the distance of ten laps each. The fields comprised of the top four point earners from Trophy Dashes as well as the two fastest qualifiers of the non-locked in drivers. Thomas Hunziker (Super Late Models), Bricen James (IMCA Modifieds), Vahn Stone (Super Sports), Stacy Kreger (Sportsman), and Kyndall Irvine (Street Stocks) getting the job done.

With the race season for 2019 all wrapped up in the books the owners and staff would like to thank each driver, crew member, and race fan for making the year so enjoyable. Be sure to be on the lookout for banquet information via the track website and Facebook pages.
