Inside Line Promotions – TULARE, Calif. (Oct. 7, 2014) – Dominic Scelzi liked the taste of his new Panella Racing Engines 360ci engine last Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway.

Scelzi qualified 10th quickest and led the majority of his heat race during the Harry Talbot Classic Memorial, which was his final 360 tune-up prior to the 21st annual Trophy Cup on Oct. 16-18.

“We had a really strong motor,” he said. “I took the lead on the start of the heat race and we were running really well for a few laps. Then it started slowing down. I was running the bottom and I moved all the way up on the straightaways and down on the corners.”

Scelzi led the first eight laps before finishing third to lock his Roth Motorsports backed entry into the main event. However, the team decided to play it safe and skip the feature following a parts failure.

Scelzi will return to Thunderbowl Raceway this Saturday for the 29th annual Cotton Classic with the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series.

“It’s my favorite race track and it’s a really great race,” he said. “The competition this year is going to be near a World of Outlaws show. It will be so cool to have such a talented field. I’m looking forward to going head to head with these guys at a track I like and feel confident at.”

Scelzi has finished fourth and ninth during two of his three King of the West races at Thunderbowl Raceway this season.
