Tyson Blood wins on Topless Modified Night

Tyson Blood wins on Topless Modified Night
9/7/2024
Elma, WA -
Tyson Blood kept his momentum up from last week in the first Modified Topless race in as long as we can remember racing on a weekend we can’t remember the last time we raced on. We also had the first annual Candy Dash, and drawing for all the other fans put on by Craig Moore Racing, Higgenbottom Racing, and Tyson Blood racing with support from all the race teams, and fans, and it was a great time had by all.
The Modifieds went topless in a non-points race and your quick qualifier which set a track record at 17.331 Tyson Blood took the lead and would lead the entire race for back to back wins and 3rd on season. On lap 6 there would be a caution and on the restart Austin Rognlin would take advantage of the outside restart to get into 2nd until another caution shortly after. On the next restart Craig Moore would take advantage of that same outside starting spot to get into 2nd and would be able to keep the same pace with Tyson Blood but not really able to get that close to him to battle for the lead and hold on for 2nd. Austin Rognlin would have some issues in turns 3 and 4 on a couple laps and lose some spots on that last restart but able to find where his car worked better on the outside and work back up and finish 3rd followed by Jake Sorenson and Ryen Haney. Heat race wins went to Craig Moore and Jake Sorenson
Austin Kerrigan took the lead on lap one of the Superstock main event with his dad Shane quickly getting into second in front of Jayson Wolcott. Shane would look for different lines in the main event and try a hail mary move in the final corners, but Austin would keep up the speed and win by .270 at the line to win his 4th of 5 races and keep the Kerrigans perfect in 2024 in the Superstock division. Shane Kerrigan would pick up heat race 1 and is trailing his son by 9 points with just the season championship left on Sept 21st.
In the Hornets Joel Baxter led lap 1 but 7th starting Cory Sweatman took the lead on lap 2. On lap 7 the 6th place running Scott Reed would pop a tire to bring out the caution. On the restart Cory would take off but behind that the racing was wild with 4 wide racing at times from 3rd to 6th and Kenny Miles would go sailing into the infield while Max Sanford would come to a stop ahead of that to bring out another caution. On the restart Cory Sweatman would have smooth sailing to his 6th win on the season but first in this new car after his other car got totalled on 8/3 and move up to second in points with 1 race to go 27 back from Max Sanford. Riley Scherer driving the Payton Harding 29 car would finish second to keep the car 4th in points. Landon Pruett, Dale Vacknitz, and Nick Sheats would round out the top 5. Jason Parmelee would finish 11th and is in 3rd in points. Heat race wins would go to Nick Sheats, Cory Sweatman, and Riley Scherer (29 car) and the B main went to Landon Preutt. Season Championship for the hornets is on Sept 21st.
Sept 14th is season Championship for the 360 Sprint Cars and the Limited Sprint Cars plus the IMCA Modifieds have their final point race before the championshio on the 21st and we have the IMCA SportMods on the schedule as well.
