Brent Beauchamp Takes His First Victory Of 2024 On Fan Remember Night At LPS

34 spints loaded the back 2 rows of the LPS pits and wow was it going to be a dandy to end a 3 night stretch since Thursday. The 4 fast times in their groups were Seth Parker, Harley Burns, Colton Cottle and Ivan Glotzbach. This setup a 4 heat taking the top 4 with 4 coming from the B to make up the field. Seth Parker would win heat 1 from the pole over Zack Pretorius and Austin Nigh. Heat race 2 would be won by Brandon Spencer over Harley Burns and Brayden Fox. Heat race 3 Brent Beauchamp showed his speed as he came from 4th to win it over Colton Cottle. The final heat went to Tye Mihocko from 3rd over Kyle Shipley and Ivan Glotzbach. The final chance to get in the A during the semi was won by Jesse Vermillon over Rob Caho, Nic Harris and Gabriel Gilbert. This put us setup for the 25 lap A main event and the front 2 lucky draws for the night went to Zack Pretorius and Harley Burns. Both of these stars looked strong early in the race. Track was good low and high as early in the race we had a lot of guys from the middle headed to the front. By the halfway point Brent Beauchamp stormed to the front in his 1st night out in the #34 car. Brandon Spencer headed to the curb and started 7th and by lap 15 he was battling for 3rd and got it. The final 10 laps had all kinds of fast cars in the top 10 spread out on the bottom by the tires and some banging it off of the high cushion of course. The final 5 laps Brent was very good through the lapped traffic and Brent Beauchamp and the 34 crew would be headed to victory lane. Following Brent at the finish it was Brandon Spencer from 7th, Tye Mihocko, Brayden Fox from 10th and Austin Nigh from 9th. Another great show and I appreciate these 34 heroes that strap in every week and put on a classic from 1 through 34th. The talent in the state I always say I am so fortunate to be a Hoosier!! Next week another great show Saturday and then the Maverick Mayhem rolls into town and we will see sprints with those airplanes on top. Just kidding I am pumped to see the 410 wings battle it out around 4 of the best tracks in Indiana which I am thinking 7 to 8 states represented in those fields for sure.
The UMP Mods also had a great field of cars with 22 entries. Fast times went to Jimmy Hayden, Tyler Loughmiller and Derek Losh. All 22 would make the A with the heat winners being Jimmy Hayden, Dillon Nusbaum and Derek Losh. The lucky chip draw for the front row was going to be Michael Kettnich and Derek Losh. Michael in his 2nd trip to LPS would look strong hanging up front with Derek Losh for the 1st half of the race. There were a lot of very stout cars in this field. By the halfway point Derek was starting to build his lead. Tyler Loughmiller and Derek Groomer were having a good battle for 2nd. Derek was able to get to 2nd and then he was closing on Derek looking at the lap times on the computer. Derek Losh started to get into lapped traffic and that is all it took as he did a great job dicing through the lap cars. Derek Losh would hold on to the 20 lap A main beating another fast Derek for the win Derek Groomer with Tyler Loughmiller, Dillon Nusbaum and Josh Boller rounding out the top 5. Thanks to all the 22 cars that came as we had a team from Kentucky who came 4 hours to run with us and we appreciate all of the 113 entries that made the haul.
The UMP Super Stocks had a loaded field of 24. We had Brownstown cars and Paragon cars along with our every Saturday night stars. We had UMP Champs, Track Champs and most of the Top 10 in the UMP national points for this season also. It was going to be a dandy when I saw the roster who entered into the LPS pits. The 3 fast times for qualifying were Larry Raines, Tucker Chastain and Greg Amick. Tucker is leading the UMP national points so far with both Sasser brothers also in attendance Saturday who are right up there with him so far in 2024. Heat race winners were Larry, Tucker and Zach Sasser. The B main or last chance to get in was won by Wade Goodale. This shows how stout the field was when last weeks feature winner had to get through the B main the very next week. This setup the A main and the 2 on the front row after pulling the chips it was Tucker Chastain and Jeff Allen. The 20 lap A main was intense with Tucker taking the early lead. Zach and Larry would draw the 3 and 4 chips and both of these cars are very fast each night they hit the track. Tucker and Zach were really good on the bottom and Larry Raines is always good on the top. It was a great battle with some of the best in the nation for sure and the 71 of Tucker Chastain held on for the big win over Zach Sasser, Larry Raines, Josh Litton, Colton Sullivan and Justin Massie. Thanks to all the great teams that traveled far distances to put on a fantastic show.
The Mod Lites had 13 entries for the Saturday night event. Heat race winners were Jason Masongard and Brenden McGlothlin. The invert for the feature was a 5 so Jason and Brenden would have to start 4th and 5th in the 15 lap A main. It didn’t take either driver very long at all to head to the front. Jason Masongard would take the lead before the halfway point and would be able to hold off Brenden McGlothlin at the finish. Behind those 2 at the finish it was Dustin Bruce, Joe Boyll and Andy Tragesser to round out the top 5. Brenden McGlothlin started out the night winning the makeup feature from the rainout earlier in the season. The Mod Lites will be on the card for Bloomington Speedway this Friday night.
The Bombers had another very stout field of 20 for the evening and the fast times were Chucky Walden, Austin Leitzman and Josh Foxworthy. All 3 of them would win their heats also which setup the A main with all 3 looking very fast in their heats. Chucky and Austin would pull the number 1 and 2 chips for the A main and would make up the front row. Austin Leitzman in his first trip to LPS in 2024 looked very strong in the 15 lap A main. It was looking like the first trip to LPS could get him a checkered flag win but it wasn’t meant to be as he slowed out of turn 4 with fluid coming from beneath his car what looked like could be rear end oil. On the restart it would be a battle between Josh Foxworthy and Jordan Almanza. Another caution would come out when Jordan made contact with a lapped car that looked to have a flat tire and luckily there was no damage to the car Jordan was driving and because it was not his fault in the contact he would get his 2nd place spot back for the restart. The final laps Josh Foxorthy hit his marks and would take the win over Cody Tate, Jordan Almanza, Tyler Rodgers and Megan Cavaness. Another great show at LPS with a great fan turnout and we are especially thankful for the 113 entries that filled up our pits at The Curb. Next Saturday is a regular show with the Indiana RaceSavers also joining us. Then don’t forget the Maverick Mayhem starts on Thursday Night June 20th at LPS which will be 4 days straight of the Maverick Series Wing cars with the IRA sprints also joining with the series together. There is a chance we could have 35 to 50 cars for the 1st of many Maverick Mayhems across the state of Indiana!! Please tell all your friends about this one because those 4 nights will be full of action.
