Driver Profile - #88 Factory Stock Rob Wagner (REVISITED)

When Prince Township's Rob Wagner is not behind the wheel of his Factory Stock #88, the 50 year old is strumming his guitar and enjoying country music with his wife and family in northern Ontario.
When Rob finds family time in Prince Township, Rob spends time with the five children and his wife, Allison are home they take care of there many animals on their small farm. When this veteran driver hits the track after singing the Canadian national anthem on the front stretch at Laird Raceway, the veteran driver will be looking for his second championship at Laird and his first in the Factory Stock division when racing starts in 2020.

What do you do for a living?

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family? Hobbies or interests? What’s your passion?
I'm kinda a homebody enjoy spending time with my wife and kids. In winter I love snow machines and of course, my summers are spent between the track and supporting my wife racing. I am a Northern Ontario Country Music Association (NOCMA) member and avid country music singer. Taking pride in playing classic country on stage and anytime I can break out the guitar.
Do you remember when you first began to race?
First started to race in 2016 in four Cylinder division, I've always wanted to race when I was younger but never had the support that I have now which makes things easier.
What was the biggest challenge in 2019 at Laird and how do you think you change that going to 2020?
Well as being Champion in four Cylinder in 2018 moving up to factory stock was a big challenge, learning how to set the car up is a lot different from FWD so it's like starting from scratch.
Based upon your experiences at Laird Raceway, tell us your most exciting moments of racing?
Being a spectator and wanting to try racing then following the dream with my first car the "green bean" as the kids call it. Winning 2018 four cylinder Track Championship then purchasing the factory stock for 2019. Watching my stepdaughter take the wheel of my four cylinder in the summer of 2019.

Who is a clean driver you really enjoy racing with?
First-year in Factory stock everyone was good. We raced hard in the track and then hung out like old friends off the track. Every one of them helped out with any questions or suggestions and we just had fun.
On the opposite side of that, is there anyone who always seems to make it particularly hard on you?
There's no one, in particular, they all push me to get better every race.
Any final words?
I can't wait to hit the track in 2020 with a new paint job and new goals for team 88. Shout out to my kids and Pops Billy Wagner for the help and support Darcy Reed for turning wrenches and thank to Dave Bouchard (Quality Care Transmission) for all the late nights.
