Driver Profile - Factory Stock #01 Jerry Ross (REVISITED)

Laird Raceway and Rev It Up Racing put you "in the driver's seat" with the weekly driver's profiles every Monday, so you can get a closer look and get a better understanding of just who these drivers are and what "makes them tick."

When you hear the #01 General Lee pulling into the pits at Laird Raceway, driver Jerry Ross sounds the horn that sounds exactly like the famous General Lee to let everyone know that he has arrived to compete week in and week out.

Jerry is one half of the Ross Racing team with brother John who races #01 in the modified division when he is home from working out of town. The Ross boys have said that there is no sibling rivalry between the two. Jerry's brother in law also races at Laird with Mark Laakso racing in the modifed division in the #84. Racing runs in the family with Ross father, Lane who use to climb behind the wheel years ago in the different divisions. Jerry is a veteran with heading into his 17 season when the green flag drops in 2020.

Back in 2003, I jumped behind the wheel of the #01 General one night, this was the first time I raced, I captured the checkered flag that evening and I was hooked after that.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family? Hobbies or interests? What’s your passion?
I enjoy the outdoors camping, fishing, and hunting, especially with my family.

What was the biggest challenge in 2019 at Laird and how do you think you change that going to 2020?
My biggest challenge in 2019 was trying race as well as helping my brother John dial in his #01 Modified.

Based upon your experiences at Laird Raceway, tell us your most exciting moments of racing or as a spectator?
I started helping my brother and fellow driver John Ross work on his car in 1999 at Laird Raceway. We stopped in 2004. We brought the General back to the track in 2013 and 2014 with John and I sharing the time behind the wheel of the #01 General.

Who is a clean driver you really enjoy racing with?
I enjoy racing with all the drivers. Every race we try to respect one another on and off the track

Any final words?
I enjoy driving but I enjoy figuring out how to make the #01 General work better and consistent week in and week out.
