DICE RACING’S, JEFF SZAFRANIEC ADDS $1,000 TO “BUTCH PALMER CLASSIC 32” AS PART OF SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27
The “Butch Palmer Classic 32” fpr the Race of Champions Four Cylinder Dash Series on Sunday, September 27, will now pay $532.70-to-win and $100-to-start. Jeff Szafraniec of Dice Racing, has contributed $1,000 to the purse. In addition the Friday and Saturday portions of the #DashSeriesTripleChallenge will pay $370.70-to-win and a full series purse making it a lucrative weekend for the Series.
“Butch Palmer was a long time family member of the Dice Racing Team,” stated Szafraniec “We always loved his passion and never give up attitude. He was always happy to behind the wheel whether it was weekly racing at Holland or visiting one of the tracks for their specials, everyone knew Butch was there to have fun wheeling his racecar. Watching Four Cylinder racing evolve over the last 14 years in Western New York has been an eye opening experience with the ever rising costs of racing and the challenges that present new and younger drivers with little to no support. It was my way of giving back to the Four Cylinder racing community and honor a great man in Butch Palmer. We also want to remind every driver in field, just as Butch would, ‘have fun’ regardless of where you are running and make sure you are smiling at the end of the night.”
The “Dash Series Triple Challenge” will kick off on Friday, September 25 as part of the open practice night, with qualifying races and a 20-lap feature paying $333.33 to win. The top-16 finishers in the Friday night portion of the event will automatically be transferred to the Saturday, September 26 feature event. On Saturday the winner will draw one of four numbers that will establish the invert, which will be 10, 12, 14 or 16. There will be qualifying events to set the remainder of the field on Saturday. The remaining cars that participated in the Friday night feature will be placed ahead of any additional or new entries on Saturday. The Saturday feature will pay $370.70-to-win.
On Sunday, the deck will be restacked and all competitors will start from scratch with qualifying races and a feature as part of the “Butch Palmer Classic” 32, with a 32-lap feature in honor of the late Butch Palmer. The race will now pay $532.70 to win, in honor of the 70th year of the Race of Champions 250.
The three features will have a separate point tabulation and an overall winner will be determined. The winner will receive the first annual “Fred Rounds Dash Series Triple Challenge Cup”. The overall combined standings along with Sunday’s “Butch Palmer Classic” 32 will count toward the championship point standings.
Purse enhancement for the Four Cylinder Dash Series has been provided by longtime Western New York race official, Art James of DC & H Consulting in Williamsville, N.Y.
