New England Dwarf Car Series

“Top Gun” Tom Harwood Lands in Lee USA Speedway Victory Lane!

Lee, NH – The New England Dwarf Car Series Presented by Construction Site Machinery in association with Bumpy’s Auto Service and Accelo Racewear was scheduled to compete at Lee USA Speedway this past Saturday but Mother Nature said not today. Thankfully due to the large scale of the event taking place the track had a scheduled rain date of Sunday. 20 dwarf cars towed in on Sunday to compete in the Pine State Dump Runners 25!

Tom Harwood (29) paced the lone practice session. With 20 cars in the pits we would have 3 heat races. Unfortunately Adam Bousquet (07x) was unable to arrive in time to make qualifying and Adam King (44) was unable to get his car fired up as his heat entered the track ending his evening early. Harwood, Chris Sullivan (0No), and Jason Hodgdon (31H) took down heat race wins.

An 8 was pulled for the invert which would put the 72 of Kenny “Caveman” Scott and the 23 of Jeremy Rodimon on the front row. Scott would lead the first 3 circuits before Jason Hodgdon took the top spot. On Lap 5 the caution would fly as contact between the 57 of Zig Geno and 25 of Tim Griffith would see Geno come to a stop on the front stretch ending his evening. Griffith would head pit side after a few laps under caution ending his day as well. Jason Hodgdon resumed his roll at the top spot with son Cody Hodgdon (31) right behind him. On lap 12 the second of 3 cautions would fly this time collecting numerous cars resulting in a red flag. The 30 of Duane Skofield would give low under the 08xx of Jojo Roberts entering turn 3 hitting a rumble strip causing both cars to spin out. Unfortunately Rodimon had nowhere to go making hard contact with the Skofield. Daniel Brofman (3NH) spun in the middle of the track attempting to avoid the wreck at the same time the 12 of Sarah “Cupcake” Hodgdon spun to avoid the wreck causing the cars to connect resulting in both cars needing the ramp truck to leave the track. Though a few drivers were banged up a little they all reported that they are okay.

Unfortunately for Jason Hodgdon he was unable to get his car restarted after the red flag was lifted due to a battery issue. Cody Hodgdon assumed the top spot until the next caution on Lap 17 as Bousquet spun on his own. After the ensuing restart Harwood was able to take over the lead and would never look back as he took his first win of the season. Cody Hodgdon held on to finish 2nd with Ryan Carman 3rd, Sullivan 4th, and Scott 5th!
