Riedner Pockets $1099 in IMCA Sportmod Victory at Luxemburg Speedway
(Luxemburg, WI)- Brandon Riedner loved his trip to Luxemburg Speedway. He loved the trip so much he went home $1099 richer courtesy of his 30 lap IMCA Sportmod Feature win. The race was in memory of former racer John Soukup.
Other winners included: Lance Arneson (IMCA Modifieds) Evan Madden (IMCA Stockcars) Ed Anschutz (Street Stocks) and Matt Brehmer (4 Cylinders)
Todd Wiese came into the Feature with the claim of defending champion trying to defend the home turf. Brandon Riedner came in as the visitor trying to steal the show. Riedner did just that. Wiese led from the drop of the green flag and through a series of early cautions. This allowed Brandon Riedner to join the race for the win. Riedner showed his racer on lap 20 and made the race winning move on lap 23. Riedner flew passed down low and into the lead. Wiese gave chase up on top and actually gained on the leader only to bobble with a couple laps remaining. Riedner took home the John Soukup Memorial Race and the $1099 payday. Wiese finished second. Lucas Lamberies finished third after starting 16th. Point leader, Chris Budzban finished fourth after starting 18th. Kyle Raddant finished fifth.
Lance Arneson and Jay Matthias put on a classic display of racing clean and hard in the IMCA Modified Feature. Arneson started on the pole with Matthias on the outside. The two worked opposite ends of the spectrum on the racetrack. Arneson led on the bottom with Matthias just to his outside after the only caution on lap one. The duo would trade the lead throughout the race with neither taking an advantage. On the final laps, Matthias tried everything but couldn’t put together a late race pass. Arneson picked up the win over Matthias. Konnor Wilinski finished in third by himself on the speedway. Brian Joski led Benji Lacrosse to the line for fourth. LaCrosse started 18th.
Evan Madden’s second straight win in the IMCA Stockcar division came when he took the green flag and took the lead immediately. Madden played the role of grocery checkout man. He pulled away from the field. John Heinz got to second on lap five but could never reel in the leader. Heinz cut into the lead late but it wasn’t enough. Madden cruised to the win in front of Heinz. Billy Lemieux won the late race battle for third over Troy Muench. Muench became point leader by virtue of his fourth place finish. Dave Bouche rounded out the top five.
Clint Evans ran up front in the Street Stock Feature event for the better part of the race. On lap five, Ed Anschutz got into Evans and a caution came out. Anschutz would not be denied. He restarted 18th and picked his way through the field. Anschutz would reach the leader and grab the lead for good on lap 14. Anschutz picked up the win in his first trip of the season. Dan VanPay came home second in front of Scott Boulanger. Paul Ambrosius finished fourth with Evans sliding back to fifth late.
Matt Brehmer tracked down race leader Calvin Stueck over the final few laps of the 4 Cylinder Feature. Brehmer used the rubbing is racing term on the final lap to pick up the win over Stueck. Melissa Clark finished third followed by Tony Fletcher and Kevin Rabe.
