TRIPLE CROWN ACTION ON HIGH BANKS AT MONADNOCK

Monadnock Speedway Saturday, July 12, event story

WINCHESTER, NH – At the high-banked oval known widely for the best weekly racing in the Northeast, the large crowd on hand for Saturday’s Teddy Bears Pools and Spas Triple Crown event was treated to one that tops them all.

They will long remember the super star performances of Hillary Renaud and Maya Bell, of Trevor Bleau and Ty LeClerc, Carlos Grenier and Jack Dumas; and they weren’t even the night’s winners.

Many of the usual culprits were in victory lane Saturday, Brian Robie , Justin Beecher and Rob Richardi, but the jobs they had to do to get there were incredible. Robie won his fourth 604 Modified main event of the season, adding to his lead in Teddy Bear Pools 2025 Triple Crown series, Beecher did likewise, making it three-for-three in Monadnock events this summer, and Richardi added another win to his super star Pro-4 Modified resume on the high banks.

John Fultz soared like a rocket ship in winning his third Mini Stock feature this year, Jimmy Zellman scored a thrilling win over Carlos Grenier in the Pure Stocks, and teen hot shoe Hunter Duquette – aboard a loaner after last week’s big wreck – nipped Maya Bell to top the Young Gun feature.

Todd Patnode and Trevor Bleau led the Allstates Materials Group 604 Modifieds to the green Saturday, with Patnode jumping all over the top spot, The Swanzey star would hold the point for 11 laps until teen Ty Leclerc took over, then pulling away, as Robie – charging from row four – blasted forward.

Robie took second from Tyler Leary on lap 23 and the race was on. He caught Leclerc on lap 32, passed him on lap 39, and soared off to his fourth win of the summer and second in a row in the Teddy Bear Pools series.

Bleau blasted up to second on lap 45, earning the impressive runner-up finish for the second week in a row. Leclerc finished his blockbuster performance in third.

In a post race inspection, Robie's motor was removed and taken to a well respected non bias engine builder. The motor was tested and had the correct cubic inch displacement. The motor was then tested on a dyno and found to be within the manufacturer's specifications. The motor seals were also inspected by a GM representative and were found to be in the proper locations as installed by the factory and not tampered with.

Hillary Renaud, still looking for her first win of the season, started up front in the Twin State Truck Services Super Street feature and held off Owen Zilinski for the first 30 go-rounds. Justin Beecher had the lead pair in his crosshairs.

Zilinski led for two laps, then giving way to Beecher, who blasted off to his third win of the summer here on the high banks, and 25th overall in his stellar Street Stock career. Renaud got back up for second on lap 33, with Zilinski finishing in her shadow for third.

Brett Meservey took off like a bullet in the Pro-4 Modified fourth annual Dan Meservey Sr. Memorial main event. The event’s second caution flag, though, waved as Meservey pulled up lame along the frontstretch, ending his dominant bid for victory. It was the only invitation Rob Richardi needed.

Richardi, who’d earlier won his heat, held off storming Jack Dumas to win again on the high banks. Doug Meservey Jr., grandson of the event’s namesake, impressed in third.

Bay State blaster John Fultz made it two in a row and three in the year in the Fabian Fuels Mini Stocks. Taking the lead from Cameron Sontag on lap 20, he never looked back. Owen Zilinski took third from Julia Kendall on lap 28, but she stole it back as the checkers waved.

Jimmy Zellman, coming off a third-place finish the night before at Claremont, had bigger things in mind as he and rookie Kyle Begos led the Brattleboro Towing and Recovery Pure Stocks to the green Saturday night.

Zellman led all the way to score what was maybe the toughest victory of his career. Carlos Grenier charged from row four to claim second on lap ten and spent the next 20 circuits inches away from the leader before finishing second in a finale that had the crowd on its feet. Gordon Farnum, fighting an overheating ride all night, came in third.

Doug’s Auto Body Young Gun star Hunter Duquette, aboard a Sontag loaner car after crashing heavily a week ago in his own, led all the way in Saturday’s 15-lapper, holding off last week’s winner Maya Bell to win a thriller. Ella Grabowski earned her second trophy in as many weeks, finishing third.

The weekly racing series divisions will have the night off next Saturday, July 19, as the speedway hosts a pair of JDV Productions special events. The NASCAR Whelen Modifed Series will be in town for major events on both Saturday, July 19, and Sunday, July 20.
