Issues derail strong runs with Southern Nationals at Toccoa & North Georgia
Sam Seawright made a special Tuesday evening start at Toccoa Raceway (Toccoa, Ga.) with the Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Series for the tour's fifth event of the summer.
Locking in the Top-5 in qualifying, Seawright laid down the second-fastest lap in his group which placed him on the second-row for the 40-lap feature. For the $7,553-to-win main event, Sam was running inside the Top-3 when contact from another competitor caused the left rear tire to go flat. Seawright rejoined the field but quickly pulled back in and was scored 17th.
Hoping for better luck on Friday at North Georgia Speedway (Chatsworth, Ga.), Seawright was second-fastest in qualifying and went on to dominate his heat race. Rolling off from third-place in the $10,053-to-win feature, Sam was running inside the Top-10 when he lost his transmission. He was scored 22nd in the final rundown.
