Dover Dominates and Noteboom cruises

Night #1 of the J&J Fitting Iron Cup is in the books as IState trucking presented 7 classes featurin 137 cars for the 3rd Iron Cup.

Jack Dover swept the Nebraska 360 events at Park Jefferson in 2016 as he recorded his third win at the track. Greg Bakker was able to take the point early in the race with a wild slide job. Controversy erupted when Bakker and Dover slid each other multiple times, but were stopped by a caution. The Westhold Timing system showed Dover in the lead by .005 seconds, however many spectators said visually Bakker was clearly first. Dover assumed the point and ran to his 3rd victory of the season.

Jay Noteboom led a stout field in the A Modifieds to continue his mastery of the Union County oval. Noteboom had a good run in his heat and drew toward the front of the feature. Noteboom was able to put his name on the ballot for 2017 FastShafts qualifier holding off Sioux City legend Chris Abelson and invader Shane DeMay.

Elijah Zevenbergen showed true class carried over from Boone by picking up another victory at Park this year. Zevenbergen, who lost his primary motor at the SuperNationals, used a backup to secure the top spot. Travis Barker was once again the bridesmade. Ryan Harris returned to the oval after season long motor problems to secure 3rd

Invaders Jake Sachau and Kyle Prauner finished first and second in the Schaeffer Oil Sport Mods. Besting a stout field featuring track champion Todd Boulware, Sachau was able to parlay excellence to top the 20 car field.

It was locals Andy Hoffman taking home the checkered flags in the hard fought Hobby Stock feature over 18 other cars. Hoffman was able to work his way to the front besting David Miller and Craig Clift. Hoffman, who was the 2015 champion, has found form after a mid season accident to take home the $500 top prize.

Tyler Thompson was once again able to show how to pick up the big money in the big events as he was able to best a solid field of IMCA Sport Compacts.

Doug Pollack was victorious in the Modified Lites after a great run. Pollack won his first race of his career in a well earned victory.
