Blurton Captures First Victory of Season at Phillips County Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – HOLYOKE, Colo. (May 15, 2018) – Zach Blurton turned in a dominating performance last Saturday at Phillips County Raceway, where he led from start to finish to net his first win of 2018.

“They called for rain throughout the day and it misted on us a couple of times,” he said. “Right after we got done racing and were on our way home it rained so we were lucky to get that race in. We had a great car and our motor was on point. It’s great to get that first win with the Colorado Sprint Series.”

A brief altercation in the heat race resulted in a second-place finish for Blurton, who started on the pole. However, it didn’t matter as he drew the pole position for the A Main.

“The guy on the outside of the front row of the heat got a jump and I let him go because my motor takes off so well,” he said. “Coming down the frontstretch I had caught him and he banged wheels with me and shoved me down in the mud. There was no use tearing the car up in the heat so we settled for second.

“In the feature I got a good start and just cruised from there.”

Blurton had planned to compete at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb., this weekend, but due to the weather forecast the team will travel to Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kan., for a weekly 305ci sprint car show.

“We will use it as a tune-up for the United Rebel Sprint Series opener coming up in a couple of weeks,” he said. “I’m still waiting on my new Pro Shocks and should have them in a week or so. I’m excited to see what we can do with newer technology. We will also have new shirts for the fans in the next week.”
