Inside Line Promotions – PARK CITY, Kan. (March 29, 2016) – Harli White is taking the wings off this weekend after two straight frustrating weeks of sprint car racing.

White will race her midget this Friday and Saturday at Port City Raceway in Tulsa, Okla., for the 3rd annual Turnpike Challenge with the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget Series.

“We decided to give the wings a break,” she said. “I enjoy racing a midget and I’m looking forward to it this weekend. I’ve never raced a midget there, but I do have one Restrictor win and one A Class win there in micro sprints.”

White is coming off a sour weekend at 81 Speedway during the 6th annual Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout with the GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Sprint Car Series.

The event began last Friday with White advancing from fifth to fourth place in a heat race, which lined her up on the outside of the front row for a qualifier.

“We had a problem with the driver/setup in the qualifier,” she said. “That really hurt us. We usually do a lot better than that. It was disappointing.”

White ended seventh in the qualifier before she posted a fourth-place finish in a B Main, which garnered the final transfer into the main event and started her 24th.

“We got rolling and had advanced to around the top 15 when a car started flipping in front of me,” she said. “I slowed up and got ran over from behind. That tore up the car pretty good. We got it fixed (during the red flag) and restarted. Then I got between two cars and out in the middle of nowhere and ended up spinning out a few laps later.”

White rallied from the incidents to post a 16th-place finish.

She returned to the 3/8-mile oval on Saturday for the finale, which began with a pair of spins on the opening lap of a heat race.

“I got into the marbles and spun it out on the start,” she said. “On the restart I did the same thing and we hit the wall off turn two. We actually broke the frame. It was really frustrating.”

That sidelined White for the remainder of the event.

“I can’t wait to get back in the midget this weekend and hopefully we can be a contender both nights,” she said.
