RANSOMVILLE CELEBRATES 2019 TRACK CHAMPIONS

RANSOMVILLE, N.Y. (September 16, 2019) - The 2019 racing season at Ransomville Speedway came to a close this past weekend with the running of the King of the Hill weekend. During the festivities the final two track champions for this season were crowned, joining Erick Rudolph (Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds), Brett Senek (Investor's Service Sportsman) and Mike Martin and Butch Zimmerman (Stevenson's Hardware Novice Sportsman).

Cory Sawyer of Niagara Falls clinched his third career Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stock track championship on Friday night in the final points race of the season. Sawyer led Pete Stefanski by 24 points heading into Friday's finale. While Stefanski won the battle for his sixth win of the season, Sawyer won the war as he finished  fourth to clinch the title by 14 points.

The time between Sawyer's second and third championships was a lot less than his first and second titles. He won his first Street Stock crown in 1996, and then took some time away from racing full time before winning his second championship in 2016. Only three years elapsed between his second and third titles. Sawyer finished the season with four feature wins and 12 top five finishes. He finished eighth or better in every start except one.

In the Gippster's Collision Mini Stocks, Cole Susice of Ransomville secured his second career track championship. Susice collected his title with a win and third place finish during the King of the Hill events. He finished the season with four wins, 14 top fives and a top ten finish in all 16 races this year. Susice made a strong run down the stretch with three wins in the final five races of the season.

The Mini Stock championship capped off an incredible season for Susice. He also won the Ransomville/Genesee Speedway Mini Stock Series title and shared co-champion honors with Ashley Blech for the Genesee Speedway Mini Stock title. He became the first driver to win championships at Ransomville and Genesee in the same season.

Ransomville Speedway will honor all of its track champions in early November during the annual year end awards banquet. Details to be released shortly.
