Special Friday/Saturday Doubleheader At Redwood Acres Raceway This Weekend

North Coast race fans have a lot to look forward to this Friday and Saturday with Redwood Acres Raceway hosting two nights of racing. Friday, RAR will salute its fans with Fan Appreciation Night. Saturday’s event will feature the debut of the Gunslinger Sprint Cars while the Upstate Bomber Series will be racing in the Rumble In The Woods 50. Both events are being presented by Shafer’s Ace Hardware.

Fan Appreciation Night was originally scheduled for Saturday August 27 but had to be delayed due to CAL FIRE’s use of the fairgrounds for the Six Rivers Lightning Complex fires. Entrance to the grandstands for Friday’s Fan Appreciation Night race is free and does not require a ticket. In addition, the first 200 kids who enter will receive a trophy. Legends, bombers, mini stocks and roadrunners will be in action. Front gates open at 4:00 while the on-track meet and greet will begin at 5:30 with racing starting at 6:00.

Tickets are $15 for Saturday’s race. The Gunslinger Sprint Cars will highlight the event and fans will be treated to seeing some of the quickest speeds the raceway has seen in recent memory. The Gunslinger North/South Shootout should feature drivers from all over the region competing at the 3/8-mile paved oval. There will be plenty on the line in the race as the winner will earn $5,000 with a $750 to start payout.

The Upstate Bomber Series will also be racing in the Rumble In The Woods 50. Their race has a $7,500 total purse with the winner earning $3,000. A special $1,000 bonus is on the line if a driver wins Friday’s local bomber event and Saturday’s Upstate feature. Local legends, mini stocks and roadrunners will also be racing.

Saturday will also be special as Redwood Acres Raceway will host the First Annual Bike Giveaway. Over 50 bikes will be given to kids thanks to a litany of donations from local business and private parties. The grandstands will open at 4:00 Saturday with racing starting at 5:30.

Tickets for Saturday’s big race can be purchased online at RacinTheAcres.com or purchased at the usual local merchants, Automasters and Don’s Rent-All in Eureka, McKinleyville Barbershop or JC Auto in Fortuna. You can get more information about this weekend’s big events by visiting RAR on Facebook or Twitter @RacinTheAcres.
