Salina Highbanks Speedway
The Allen Frailey Memorial Race!
Allen Frailey was a long-time competitor and patron at Salina Highbanks Speedway. Allen competed on the Highbanks since the early 90’s, and even before then at other tracks in Oklahoma. He got his start in drag racing at the early age of 16, but switched to dirt and quickly worked his way through the ranks to the top division of open-wheeled Modified racing. Over the years fans at the Highbanks watched a number 37 driven by a man they came to know and love as “Uncle Bumper.” While his racing talents alone made Allen Frailey a racing icon, it was his contagious smile and charm that made Allen special to everyone at the track. All in all “Uncle Bumper” won many A-Mains and even track championships, but what is most important are the fun memories he left behind with friends and even more with family, whom Allen was also responsible for the racing careers of his wife Ann and oldest son Jacoby. While everyone at Salina Highbanks Speedway still misses Allen his memory lives on through the Allen Frailey Memorial Race. We feel blessed to have had Allen Frailey be a part of our program and take comfort in knowing “Uncle Bumper” serves as an extra racing angel in the sky.
While this race is named after Allen Frailey we like to use it as a time to remember all of the drivers who have gone on before us. This weekend looks to be a great event with good weather and warm temps so bring the family out and will have a great time remembering all of pasted favorite drivers! Gate open at 5pm and race start at 7pm. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for kids 7-12 and 6 and under are free. Happy Mother’s Day to all of our Mothers!
