So far the Lobo Racing stable has claimed both wins in the Inaugural Independence Modified Clash presented by Bravado Wireless. Although RC Whitwell turned in a modest sixth place performance at the Freedom Classic to open the mini-series a $2,000 victory at Thunderbird Speedway has hoisted the Tucson, Arizona racer into the points lead to enter the final night. Whitwell holds a nine-point advantage over Thomas Tillison, Jr. who is the current runner-up. Chad Wheeler has logged two forth place performances to stand at third and sits just one point behind Tillison and only ten markers out of the lead. Tyler Wolff won the $2,500 to win opener of the series but registered a DNF on night two after getting collected in a violent crash that also abruptly ended Jason Hughes’ night at Thunderbird Speedway. Wolff, however, is still seventeen points within reach of the lead. The final driver to claim a spot in the top five is Pea Ridge, Arkansas veteran, Johnny Bone, Jr. who overcame a lackluster opener at Salina with podium finish on night two in Muskogee. Steve Holzkamper, Mickey Lassiter, Mike Wroblewksi, Tate Cole, and Lee Heiligenthal round out the top 10, while Fausten Wilhite, Brett Hansen, Nathan Hagar, Lonnie Gilleland II, and Jason Hughes make up the Top 15.
On the B-Mod side of things, just five drivers remain eligible for point fund money. Carl Conley sits atop the heap with 167 points to Brady Walsh’s 153 points. Chris Smith, Chris Pearce, and Dylan Cantwell complete the runners who have followed the B-Mod portion of the Inaugural Independence Modified Clash.
The Inaugural Independence Modified Clash will culminate on Saturday, July 15th at Salina Highbanks Speedway with a $1,500 to win, $100 to start Modified A-Feature. Joining the Modifieds and B-Mods on the jam-packed racing card will be the Pure Stock Summertime Shootout presented by Bostick Electric paying $500 to win, $60 to start as well as normal points racing for the Super Stocks. Racing begins at 7:00. General admission pricing applies: $10 for adults, $5 for kids (6-12), and kids 5 and under get in free.
