2018 Point Fund Worth Up To $20,000 Revealed
Officials at Salina Highbanks Speedway are ready to announce a point fund for the 2018 season that will award weekly competitors at the Highbanks up to $20,000. The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series restructured their track point funds to award the top five drivers in each division a set amount of point fund money, as will be outlined below. NASCAR will pay the top five drivers as has been the tradition in the past, while Salina Highbanks Speedway will now cut checks and present point funds to drivers finishing sixth through tenth.
Drivers finishing in the top five in their respective division are guaranteed the full amount of the advertised point fund, whereas drivers finishing sixth or worse will receive a pro-rated point fund based on attendance. Simply put, the driver will receive the percentage of the fund that is equivalent to the percentage of the races they run. For example, if the sixth place finisher in Pure Stock runs 80% of the races, he/she would receive 80% of the advertised point fund ($160 instead of $200).
The top five drivers will receive their checks from NASCAR as normal in December. Drivers finishing sixth through tenth will receive their checks at the Championship Banquet from Salina Highbanks Speedway.
