Matt Sanders Soars At Siskiyou Golden Speedway; Pope, Steele, And Hudson Also Achieve Success

Yreka, California- Racing returned to Siskiyou Golden Speedway on Saturday, May 1st. Four divisions were on the card, including one apart of the Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing program. Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern Sport Mods, the SODCA Dwarf Cars, Mini's, and Outlaw Pro Stocks were all in attendance.
From the coastal city of Brookings, Oregon, Matt Sanders became the third Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern Sport Mod feature winner in as many shows at SGS. It is his second victory of the 2021 campaign and the first in KMJ Performance California State competition. Additionally, it's the first win for him since conquering the field at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Arizona, on February 7th.
Central Point, Oregon's Jorddon Braaten was the runner-up, with third going to Ryan Peery from Yreka. Oregon pilots Braxton Possinger of Medford and Roseburg veteran David Schmidt rounded up the top five finishing order.
In the Clay Goben-owned entry, Roseburg, Oregon racer Anthony Pope got the job done in SODCA Dwarf Car action. It was an all Oregon top five as Central Point's Josh King and Chris Kress, of Roseburg, were second and third. The Eagle Point-based House of Peters balanced the top five with Cody and Brock ended the night fourth and fifth. St. Helens, Oregon pilot Josh Rodgers won the consolation feature earlier in the night.
Of Talent, Oregon, David Steele was the first car to the finish line in the Mini's for his second straight victory. Ashtin Hedges hit the line second, with third going to Steve Goetz. Michael Knuckles ended the evening in fourth, and Marilyn Yawnick placed fifth. For the Outlaw Pro Stocks, Keno, Oregon driver Jeff Hudson took care of business in the feature. Jeff Haudenschild claimed second over Johnny Cobb, in third. Scott Flowers and Dennis Burtenhouse Jr. were fourth and fifth.
