Inside Line Promotions – OWASSO, Okla. (Nov. 2, 2014) – There are only two weeks remaining this season for Tony Bruce Jr., who will compete in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Battle at the Border doubleheader this weekend.

Bruce Jr. will race for the third time in his career at El Paso Speedway Park in El Paso, Texas, on Friday. He placed second during his debut at the track in 2012 and was unable to finish last year’s race because of a fuel issue.

“We’ve been really good there,” he said. “We should have won the time we ran second. We just didn’t get it done on the start. Last year we took a provisional because we had something go wrong in the heat race. We were up to fifth (in the main event) with a few laps to go before a fuel line came off at the end.

“I don’t know what it is. It’s kind of a hammer-down track and for some reason we roll good there. I’m really looking forward to going back.”

The weekend wraps up on Saturday at Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, N.M., where he will visit for the fourth straight year.

“We just haven’t had very good luck in the heat races,” he said. “Unfortunately we’ve had to start in the back every single time we’ve been there. Last year we stumbled onto something that worked for us. I’m looking forward to going back there because I feel like we found something.”

Bruce Jr. has improved his result at the track each of the past three years – highlighted by a sixth-place finish last season.

“We’ve been good in El Paso and we finally figured something out about Las Cruces last year,” he said. “I feel like we have a shot to win, but I always feel like we have a shot to win. Everybody wants to win these last few races to head into the offseason with some wins and confidence. There’s only a certain amount of time and races left this year. We want to finish strong and the only way to finish strong is to win races.”

Bruce Jr. has earned four wins this season, including three with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
