Tankersley Making Rare Visit to Southwest for Battle at the Border This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (Nov. 5, 2014) – Channin Tankersley doesn’t have many laps under his belt in the Southwest, where he will race during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Battle at the Border doubleheader this weekend.

Tankersley, who is driving for Bruce Griffith, will make his debut at El Paso Speedway Park in El Paso, Texas, on Friday.

“I’ve heard the track gets kind of rough every now and again,” he said. “I tend to like the rougher tracks.”

Tankersley will wrap up the weekend on Saturday at Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, N.M., where he hasn’t competed since his debut in 2010.

“I remember it was super dry slick and it was so cold,” he said. “That’s about all I remember from that place.”

That year Tankersley finished sixth in the main event the preliminary night and he was caught up in a crash during the finale.

“My goal is top 10s both nights this weekend,” he said. “It’s a pretty realistic goal. Of course I’m going to try to do better, but I think we can be happy if we put together a couple of top-10 finishes.”
