Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (Sept. 5, 2018) – Mason Daniel will continue his sprint car education this weekend as he makes his first career start in a 410-cubic-inch powered machine at the 3/8-mile Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill., during the Tom Knowles Memorial with the MOWA Series.

Daniel, who is in the midst of his first full season in a 360ci winged sprint car, looks to make a handful of 410 starts as the 2018 season begins to wind down.

“Danny (Lasoski) has said it’s kind of like starting your learning all over again going from a 360 to a 410,” he said. “I’m excited to learn that and hopefully we can be competitive in the 410 races we run toward the end of this season. I don’t really know what to expect since I have never raced a 410. I’ll try to treat it like any other race. You definitely don’t want to make any mistakes or do anything foolish.”

Daniel competed twice with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com last weekend at Lake Ozark Speedway as part of the 9th annual LOS 360 Sprint Car Nationals. A star-studded field of approximately 50 drivers gathered for the two-night spectacle.

The event began on Saturday at Lake Ozark Speedway, where Daniel finished second in the third heat. That put him in the first qualifier. The 18-year-old placed fourth in that eight-lap event, which lined him up 12th for the 25-lap main event. He ended up crossing the finish line 18th when the final checkered flag flew after restarting at the tail of the field because he was involved in a caution.

“We went to Lake Ozark earlier this season and we seemed to get better each time we went there,” he noted. “Early on in the night we were really fast and we had a great car in the main event as well. I made a mistake and got into some trouble early on in the main event. After that, I could only come up so far.”

In the finale at Lake Ozark Speedway, Daniel finished sixth in the first heat race after having a flat tire on the opening lap, which sent him to the work area. During the third B Main, he got upside down on the first lap, which ended his night early.

“It was a tough night and I felt awful for my guys,” he said. “If I had done better in the heat race we might not have been in that position in the B Main. We put that one behind us and we are focused on this coming weekend.”
