Port Stocks Kicked Off Opening Night On The High Banks!
On May 6th, 2023, Mother Nature tried to get us to cancel, but we prevailed and got the entire show in. The Port Stock Division kicked off action on the 3/8 mile high banked oval on May 6th.
Heat Race #1 lineup: Elston Flemming Jr, Jaxon Robison, Randy Steiner, Ann Winans, Louie Lohrke, Marcus Starnes, Andre Newman, Billy Edwards, Doug Smith, and Amanda Weatherwax. As the green flag flew, Randy Steiner and Jaxon Robison went by Elston Fleming who held his line in the middle what an exciting way to kick off the 2023 season on the 3/8 mile! With in 1 lap Amanda Weatherwax is the leader. Amanda Weatherwax won the 1st heat!
Heat Race #2 lineup: Don Cupp, Katelyn Davis, William Trudgen, Jordan McCowan, Brian Barden, Nolan Gross, Bennie Miller, Tim Lyon, Kevin McShane, Jacob Newman, and Elijah Sutton. Don Cupp took the early lead with Katelyn Davis and Brian Barden battling for second behind Cupp. The 1st caution came out when Brian Barden slammed hard into the exit chute wall tires causing the whole right side of his car to become air born. Both Davis and Barden were unable to continue. One lap after the caution, Jacob Newman took over the lead. Nolan Gross is the new leader 2 laps after Jacob Newman took the lead. Nolan Gross wins heat race #2!
Heat Race #3 lineup: Brad Robison, Michael Rose, Randy Kretzinger Jr, Josh Sattler, Caleb Sattler, Doug Peters, Chris Tesch, Ryan Kinsey, and Drew Blom. Michael Rose leads at the green with Sattler right behind him. Chris Tesch was our 1st caution in turns 1 and 2 when he spun all by himself. Michael Rose and Josh Sattler battled side by side off 2 and down the backstretch and Sattler took the lead in 3 with 2 laps to go! Josh Sattler wins heat 3!
Heat Race #4 lineup: Seth Smith, Ashley Chalfant, Mike Cloutier, Mitch Dorin, Scott Gates, Ryan Drumhiller, Ryan Hollister, Todd Metz Sr, Gord Alblas, and Brandon Barcus (DNS). Ashley Chalfant would lead lap 1, Scott Gates who started 5th moved up quickly to pressure Chalfant. On lap 3 Scott Gates officially took the lead. Ryan Drumhiller was also on the move. Gates got wicked loose in turn 2 he was able to hold on but that allowed Ryan Drumhiller to take the lead. Ryan Drumhiller Port Stock A champion wins heat 4.
PORTSTOCK B FEATURE
Lineup: Elston Flemming Jr, Jaxon Robison, Elijah Sutton, Randy Steiner, Ann Winans, Louie Lohrke, Marcus Starnes, Andre Newman, Billy Edwards, Doug Smith, Amanda Weatherwax, Don Cupp, Katelyn Davis, William Trudgen, Jordan McCowan, Bennie Miller, Nolan Gross, Kevin McShane, Tim Lyon, and Jacob Newman. Jaxon Robison led early but off of turn 2 new leader Doug Smith in lap 1. First caution came out on lap 1 when Elijah Sutton and Kevin McShane made contact in turns 3 and 4. Doug Smith would take the lead on lap 2 with Newman to challenge. Newman and Smith battled side by side for the lead for multiple laps. Newman took home the B Feature win followed by Doug Smith, Jordan McCowan, Nolan Gross, Amanda Weatherwax, Bennie Miller, Kevin McShane, Katelyn Davis, Don Cupp, Andre Newman, Elijah Sutton, Ann Winans, Jaxon Robison, Louie Lohrke, Tim Lyon, Elston Flemming Jr, and Randy Steiner.
PORTSTOCK A FEATURE
Lineup: Brad Robison, Michael Rose, Randy Kretzinger Jr, Josh Sattler, Caleb Sattler, Doug Peters, Chris Tesch, Scott Casaday, Ryan Kinsey, Drew Blom, Seth Smith, Ashley Chalfant, Mike Cloutier, Mitch Dorin, Scott Gates, Ryan Drumhiller, Ryan Hollister, Todd Metz, Gord Alblas, Brandon Barcus. Green flag came out after less than 1 lap in the yellow came out Chris Tesch spins in to the infield. The second caution came when Brad Robison started the race too early. Third Caution came when Randy Kretzinger Jr spun sideways right in the middle of the field Todd "Yogi Metz Sr and Chris Tesch were involved; (if you are keeping score 0 laps have been completed). Then we finally got a lap in with Sattler as the leader then about 2 laps later Ashley Chalfant takes over the lead. Ryan Hollister and Ashley Chalfant put on a drag race at the front while Brandon Barcus our fast qualifier isn't too far behind. Caution comes out again for the 4th time as Gord Alblas' car blew up. When we go back racing, Chalfant and Hollister continue to battle side by side with Barcus watching the battle. Barcus gets by Chalfant then set sail for Hollister with laps winding down. Barcus and Hollister put on a show as they went side by side. On the final lap, final corner Ryan Hollister tried 1 last stitch effort on Barcus making contact and breaking the right front suspension on his number 5 Serv Pro Neon while Barcus would go on to win the A feature!
