Fever Heat 100 Caps Incredible 2019 Season at Stuart Speedway
After a few weeks of silence the engines roared back to life for a 2 day event at Stuart Speedway! Joe Glick, Mitchell Bunch, Corey Madden, Brayton Carter, Cody Thompson, Elijah Zevenbergen, Todd Shute and Joel Rust took home the big money at the Fever Heat 100.
MADCRA Mod Lites were only in town on Saturday, but they put on quite a show with thirty drivers showing up to take home the $1000 top prize. Michael Raffurty and Ben George led the field to green with Raffurty the early leader. Three different red flags flew within the first three laps as drivers got upside down in turn 2 each time. All racers were ok, but their nights ended early. Once the racing picked back up it was Raffurty leading Joe Glick and Joel Huggins through lap nine when Glick took over the top spot. The race was for second from there as Glick when on to the dominating win. Justin Kinderknecht finished second with Huggins third, Dillon Raffurty fourth and Michael Raffurty fifth. Michael Raffurty, George, Mike Morrill and Mike Kennedy were the heat race winners and Dave Nelson took the B-feature win.
IMCA Sport Compacts saw Mitchell Bunch and Tyler Fiebelkorn draw the first two chips on Friday, but it was Curtis Masterson leading the first three laps with Bunch and Fiebelkorn close behind. Bunch made his move on lap four and went on to the easy win over Jake Benischek, Fiebelkorn, Logan Richards and Jade Lange. Benischek and Masterson were the heat race winners.
Saturday had Ryan Brown and Jade Lange leading the field to turn one with Lange leading Mitchell Bunch and Curtis Miller over the first half of the race. Bunch got past Lange on lap eight with Miller following him through. Bunch looked to repeat his Friday win, but Miller didn’t make it easy as he was door to door at the white flag for the lead! Miller made a run, but it was Bunch at the line by about two feet! Miller settled for second with Fiebelkorn third, Lange fourth and Caine Mahlberg fifth. Mahlberg, Bunch, Miller and Josh Modde were the heat race winners.
Solomon Bennett and Kevin Bruck were the front row starters for the IMCA Hobby Stocks on Friday with Bruck leading early. Jason Fusselman and Corey Madden duked it out for second until Fusselman worked his way into the lead on lap eight. Madden got to second on lap eleven and two laps later muscled his way to the top spot and went on to the win. Brandon Cox, who started eleventh, finished second with Chuck Madden Jr third, Miciah Hidlebaugh fourth and sixteenth starting Zach Hemmingsen fifth. Adam Ayers and Fusselman were the heat race winners.
Saturday the luck fell to Brandon Cox and Zach Hemmingsen as they started on the front row. It would be Cox in front with Hemmingsen and Miciah Hidlebaugh not far behind through the first half of the race. Corey Madden got to third on lap twelve and used the high side to get past Hemmingsen on lap sixteen. Madden actually took over the lead on lap eighteen, but a caution came out to give Cox the lead back. The two lap shootout would belong to Madden as he made the clean sweep of the weekend. Cox finished second with Jason Kohl third, Hemmingsen fourth and Solomon Bennett fifth. Cox and Kohl were the heat race winners.
IMCA Northern SportMods had national point contender Tyler Soppe draw the number one chip on Friday with Colton Nelson alongside as the field came to green. Soppe led early on, but Brayton Carter stormed into the lead on lap six and went on to the easy win. Soppe held on for second with Johnathon Logue third, Doug Smith fourth and Tyler Inman fifth. Logue, Inman, Jake Sachau and Cam Reimers were the heat race winners and David Schwartz picked up the B-feature win.
Saturday it was Tommy Hensley and Dustin Lynch snagging the front row starts with Lynch leading early. About halfway through the race another national title contender, Cody Thompson grabbed the lead away from Lynch and drove off to the win. Tyler Inman finished second with Tyler Soppe third, Cameron Meyer fourth and Dusty Masolini fifth. Inman, Reimers and Matt Webb were the heat race winners.
Corey Piffer and Ben Walding started up front on Friday for the IMCA Stock Cars with Elijah Zevenbergen coming to the top spot to lead early on. Brad Derry and Damon Murty put on quite a battle for second, but it was all Zevenbergen out front as he went on to the win. Murty finished second with Derry third, Jay Schmidt fourth and Keith Simmons fifth. Murty, Simmons, Schmidt and Zevenbergen were the heat race winners and Brian Blessington won the B-feature.
Saturday had Jay Schmidt and Matthew West starting on the front row with Schmidt leading Dallon Murty and Elijah Zevenbergen over the first half of the race. Zevenbergen worked the bottom side of the track and on lap nineteen it would pay off as he took over the top spot and drove off to the win to sweep the weekend. Schmidt finished second with Murty third, Mike Nichols fourth and Brandon Pruitt fifth. Bob Daniels, Zevenbergen and Buck Schafroth were the heat race winners.
IMCA Modified drivers Todd Shute and Jesse Dennis redrew the front row on Friday with Shute using the top side of the track to lead all twenty five laps and take the dominating win, putting himself on the 2020 FastShafts All-Star ballot. Dennis finished second with Ethan Braaksma third, Jeremy Mills fourth and Joel Rust fifth. Mills and Braaksma were the heat race winners.
Saturday saw Jesse Dennis and Todd Shute on the front row again, and this time it was Dennis leading early. Ethan Braaksma worked his way up to second on lap nine and the lead on lap thirteen, but lurking in the shadows was Joel Rust. Rust got to second on lap fourteen and three laps later took over the lead. Rust would drive off into the sunset to take the win and put himself on the 2020 FastShafts All-Star ballot. Braaksma held on for second with Dennis third, Shute fourth and Jeremy Mills fifth. Rust and Dennis were the heat race winners.
