Red Robin Joins BAPS Motor Speedway to Make Kids Club Bigger in 2020

Racetracks across the country continue to search for new ways to bring kids through the front gate, in hopes of making them new fans.

Kolten Gouse, general manager at BAPS Motor Speedway, made that a focus heading into last season. That led to the development of a Kid’s Club, which provided different activities at the speedway for kids 12-under.

The initiative was a huge success, as more than 650 kids participated in events in 2019. Now, Gouse and the management team at BAPS Motor Speedway started looking at ways to make it bigger and better in 2020.

To do so, Gouse has partnered with Red Robin — Lehigh Valley Restaurant. The two entities have collaborated to put together eight events that will make the Kid’s Club a fixture next season.

“When we looked at our 12-under age group last season, the numbers showed a major increase in kids from previous years,” Gouse said. “We wanted to take a major step and make the Kid’s Club even bigger and better this season, with more activities.

“We approached Red Robin, because they are geared to kids. This partnership was perfect and couldn’t have worked out better for both of us.”

The Red Robin Kid’s Club gets started on April 4with an Easter Egg Hunt. A year ago, 600 kids participated in the event and collected 5,000 eggs.

On May 2, the speedway will hold more kid’s events. A Monster Truck Coin Scramble will be held June 19, with an ice cream and snow cone special highlighting the July 11 racing program.

A pair of events take place on August 8 and August 22. The first is the annual Kid’s Night promotion, which will feature bike races. The second event in August will be a water balloon fight. The final two events will be a kid’s candy scramble on September 19, with Trick-or-Treat Night completing the season on October 17.

Red Robin’s mascot, “Red”, will make special appearances at the track during the Easter Egg Hunt, the August 8 Kid’s Night program and for trick-or-treat at the speedway.

“Red Robin — Lehigh Restaurant Group looks forward to growing our partnership with dirt-track racing and with BAPS Motor Speedway,” said Chris DeFrain, Chief Financial Officer for the Lehigh Valley Restaurant Group. “We look forward to sponsoring their Red Robin Kid’s Club.

“Whether it is memories of your parents taking you to your favorite restaurant or the first time you saw the sights and sounds of dirt-track racing, we all fondly remember those times with family and friends.”

Red Robin — Lehigh Valley Restaurant Group is focused on kid-friendly promotions. On the first Wednesday of each month, kids eat free with purchase of an adult entrée. Restrictions apply. Please see the full offer by visitingwww.redrobinpa/kids-night/.

Gouse and friends have visited a Red Robin — Lehigh Valley Restaurant Group location on many occasions since the group became involved in dirt-track racing. He saw the kid-friendly atmosphere and promotion and knew it would be a good fit for BAPS Motor Speedway and the Kid’s Club program.

“I’m thrilled to have Red Robin — Lehigh Valley Restaurant Grup share the same vision as BAPS Motor Speedway,” Gouse said. “It’s great to have them on board as the sponsor of the Red Robin Kid’s Club.

“It makes sense for both parties. More important, Red Robin — Lehigh Valley Restaurant Group is a reputable company that participates in dirt-track racing and is heavily involved with kid’s programs. Not only is it critical for the growth of dirt-track racing, it’s a way to give back to kids in the area.”
