BAPS Motor Speedway Completes Musco Light Project Heading into 2021 Season
YORK HAVEN, Pa.: Offseason improvements have been the focus of the BAPS Motor Speedway management team over the last five years.
It’s been an ongoing process. Track Owner Scott Gobrecht and General Manager Kolten Gouse have worked tirelessly to improve the product on the track and the overall experience for fans and teams.
That dedication carried into the recent break. Gouse and his staff installed six poles and Musco lights on the backstretch and in the infield to complete a major lighting project at the speedway.
“We were not expecting to put up Musco lights this year to finish the project, but when something like this comes up, you have to take advantage of it,” Gouse said. “We are excited to offer a better experience for our race teams and fans.”
The first batch of lights on the frontstretch were installed in 2018. Gouse got an opportunity to complete the project around the entire speedway after a phone call with Reece O’Connor, of Kokomo Speedway.
Once a deal was struck, Gouse and his team went to work putting four poles on the outside of the backstretch and two more on the inside of the track in the corners. The plan is to have the lights fully functional by the March 20 opener.
“We got the phone call from Reece about locating these Musco lights, and he asked if this was something we would be interested in,” Gouse said. “They came from a community college, and we jumped on the opportunity and got the ball rolling.
“This is a big upgrade at the speedway. We think this will be beneficial to fans, teams, and viewers who purchase our Pay-Per-View events. I have to thank Lobar, Inc., Eastern Caisson, Macri Concrete, Denk Electric, and York Excavating. They all helped with this project, and we couldn’t do it without them.”
