BERGMAN EYES THREE-PEAT AT TEXAS WORLD DIRT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP

TMS Media Relations - FORT WORTH, Texas (May 9, 2016) – Seth Bergman, a native of Snohomish, Wash., may not be a Texan, but knows the importance of wearing a cowboy hat when visiting the Lone Star State.

Bergman has earned a pair of cowboy hats at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track – the traditional award given to each dirt track winner – as Bergman has won the last two ASCS races at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track.

Now Bergman is looking to add to his collection of cowboy hats when he returns May 13-14 for the Texas World Dirt Track Championship.

Bergman became just the fourth driver in Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track history with two sprint-car wins when he earned consecutive victories in 2014 and ‘15. This year he will be pursuing multiple cowboy hats during the Texas World Dirt Track Championship weekend as the series will host championship features Friday and again Saturday.

“From the first time that I came there, I have liked the venue,” Bergman said of the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track. “I love the atmosphere of that race, especially the race track. The race track is the type that gets wide; it carries speed. If you are good and make good decisions, it seems to play in your favor. I think it’s just a combination of things. It really fits how I think on the race track and how I drive. I enjoy being there. All of that has tied together and played out to being pretty successful for me.”

Bergman’s knack for winning at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track has him affiliated with a star-studded group of sprint car drivers that have earned multiple victories. World of Outlaws drivers Danny Lasoski and Steve Kinser, along with ASCS’ Jason Johnson, join him as the only others with a pair of wins.

A visit to the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track could be the solution to getting Bergman on track this season. He has one top-five finish – a runner-up finish in March at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas – in the first four races of the season and has qualified for all four features. However, he remains 84 points behind championship leader Matt Covington.

“I really feel like this is the best opportunity I’ve had to make a run at the championship,” Bergman said. “We’ve won a few races this year and we gave a lot away, so I feel like we are battling. Some issues are amongst ourselves right now. I feel like we need to get those worked out. Hopefully we can start doing that this week and get all the bad luck and bad decisions out of the way. Hopefully we can hit a stride and when we come into the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track and we can keep pushing forward and get back to our winning ways.”

The two-day show gets underway Friday, May 13 with practice at 6 p.m. CT and Limited Modified, Factory Stock and ASCS heats beginning at 7:05 p.m. The evening culminates with the 40-lap ASCS Sprint Car championship.

The weekend show continues Saturday, May 14, beginning at 7:05 p.m. with Factory Stock and Limited Modified qualifiers and followed by features for all three series. The evening will be highlighted by a 30-lap Factory Stock Championship followed by a 40-lap Limited Modified Championship and another 40-lap ASCS Sprint Car Championship.

Grandstand tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under for Friday's action and $25 for adults and $10 for children on Saturday. Fans can save $5 on adult tickets by visiting and purchasing them at any participating O'Reilly Auto Parts store.
