Pokorski Motorsports makes the show, holds own at Plymouth

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 1, 2019 – With a season-high 40 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Cars packing the pit area, Paul Pokorski and the Pokorski Motorsports team earned one of 22 coveted starting spots in the A main field and held on to post a solid 13th-place showing at The Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, Wis. on Friday, June 28.

After drawing the fifth starting spot in the fourth PDTR 360 Sprint Car heat race, Pokorski used a strong start to power past Mike Decker into fourth place on the opening lap. Five laps later, Pokorski pulled off a bold move as he dove low in turn three to work past Robbie Pribnow into third place.

The 2014 Midwest Sprint Car Association Masters Series champion then held onto third over the final four laps to earn enough passing points to transfer into the 22-car A-main field.

Following the heat race passing points invert, Pokorski lined up 11th in the 25-lap A main. Pokorski hovered around the top-10 through the first half of the race on the wide and multi-groove track surface. Following a caution period on lap 11, Pokorski moved up to the high groove where he struggled to find grip and fell back a few spots.

After jockeying for position mainly utilizing the low groove over the final 10 laps, Pokorski crossed the finish 13th place in the race, which was won by Scotty Thiel.

“The car was good in the heat race again, but I struggled with it in the A main,” Pokorski said. “For some reason, it seemed that the car was a handful throughout most of the A main. We will try to figure it out and make the car better for our two MSA races this week.”

The Pokorski Motorsports team will take part on a pair of Midwest Sprint Car Association travelling events this week. On Wednesday, July 3, the team will compete in the third annual Harry Neitzel Tribute Race at the Dodge County Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam, Wis. in conjunction with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series and Modifieds.

Grandstands will open at 4:30 p.m. with hot laps scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and IRA qualifying and racing to follow.

On Saturday, July 6, the Pokorski Motorsports team will venture to the TNT Speedway in Three Lakes, Wis. with the MSA Series for the Badger 30. Gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 5 p.m. and racing beginning at 6 p.m. Also on the card are Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Street Stocks and Trucks.

“I am really looking forward to going to Dodge County this week,” Pokorski said. “The last four times we have been there, our car has been good and we’ve had solid results. TNT should be fun. I’m hoping for a good crowd on the holiday weekend up north.”
