08/07/2015 (Auburn, MI) On a cloudy night at Tri-City Motor Speedway, the fans and drivers didn't just have the race to watch, but also the weather. Rain was on the radar, but it didn't stop the drivers from giving an action packed night of racing.

The features started out with the Auburn Bar and Grill Street Stocks. #11 James Jaenicke led the field to the green flag and the rookie driver at TCMS lead the field for the first quarter of the race. Then on lap five the #X5 Eric Lake, who is no stranger to the front of the field, took the lead. With a lot of action going on behind him, it seemed like it was anybody's race in the top five. When the 20 laps were up though, #X5 of Eric lake would take the checkered flag and pick up his second win of the year in the Street Stock Series. #7R Dave Newcomb would finish second, #65 Garrett Laudenslager had a great run and finished third, followed by #28 Jared Rizer in fourth and #67 Ryan Fitzgerald in fifth.

Up next were the Elgin Pro Stock Series in their 20-lap feature. #10B Joe Batts started off on the pole in this one, but did not keep the lead long as #27 Rob Westergard would take the lead in the first turn. Then on lap three #71 Timmy Near found some room on the high side and would take the lead. After a strong run up front it was only a matter of time until #21 Steven Hilliker would find his way up to the front and take the lead at lap 13. The race wasn’t over yet though. After a late caution on lap 16, Near and Hilliker would battle it out side-by-side for the win in the final four laps. Coming into turn three on the final lap, it looked like either one of them could win. When they came to the line #71 Timmy Near got his nose up from the run on the high side to get the win over second place finisher #21 Steven Hilliker. #99 Rick Beauchamp finished third, followed by #27 Rob Westergard in fourth and #M65 Rick Spencer in fifth.

The Hasting Race Rings Dirt Late Models would hit the track next in their 25-lap feature event. #03 J.C. Witherspoon would lead the field to the green flag. #11CR Carl Ries had a strong run on the high side coming out of turn two after the green waved and would take the lead. On lap six, the man who has never lost at Tri-City Motor Speedway in the Late Models, #6M Dona Marcoullier would find his way through the field quickly and take the lead. After that there was no catching him as Marcoullier picks up another win in the Late Models and keeps his perfect record alive. #0X Zack Olger finishes second, followed by #86 Scott Clifford, #9W Isaac Wolfgang and #21H David Hilliker rounding out the top-five.

The Main Seed and Supply IMCA Modifieds got to take the track next as sprinkles of rain started to come down on to the track. The officials asked the driver before they went green if the track was good enough to race on and they all gave a thumbs up. As the green flag waved #19JR Kody Johnson lead them into turn one. Johnson would not have the lead coming around turn four though as #27 Matt Szecsodi would take the lead. Szecsodi would lead for more than half the race, but closing in on him was the points lead #20W A.J. Ward. On lap 12, Ward would find some room and take the lead. A lap later the rain starting falling heavier, the cars started sliding on the wet clay and the officials waved the caution flag because of the rain to ask the drivers how they felt about the track surface and most of them gave it a thumbs down. The officials and drivers did their best to try and get it back to racing conditions, but the rain was too much. Race procedures state when the race is more than half complete, the race order is final and the officials had to call the race with only 7 laps remaining giving #20W A.J. Ward the win. #27 Matt Szecsodi came close to picking up his first feature win, but would end up in second. #615 Chad Wernette would finish third, followed by #19JR Kody Johnson in fourth and #7D Myron DeYoung in fifth.

The Figure-8 drivers did not get their chance to race on Friday night and will have a make-up race on August 21st to determining who will be the figure-8 champion. They did have a chance to beat the track record at the beginning of the night and #X5 Eric Lake would be the one with the fastest time with a 23.663, just missing the track record by .009 seconds.

Next week, August 14th is Carload Night and Truck Drags. For the amazing price of $40, you can pay for everybody in your car to get into the race, so make sure you jam that car up with all your friends and family. Also, if you think you have the fastest truck around, show it off at the Truck Drag. A possible 16 truck field will battle it out to see who has the fastest truck and reflexes. If you want to be part of the Truck Drags e-mail or call Tri-City Motor Speedway for more information. Then on August 21st is family and autograph night with the re-scheduled Figure-8 Championship race. For more information on TCMS or on results and whole lot more check out www.tricityracetrack.com.
