Runner-up finish in Tar Heel 50 at Tri-County

Behind the wheel of his Super K Express No. 25 Late Model, Shane Clanton visited Tri-County Racetrack (Brasstown, N.C.) on Thursday night for the rescheduled FK Rod Ends Tar Heel 50. In a field of 26 Schaeffer’s Fall Nationals series entries, Shane followed up the third fastest time in his qualifying group with a second place finish in the Dash behind Brandon Overton. Rolling off on the front row, Clanton blasted ahead of polesitter Overton early and set a comfortable pace until lapped-traffic became a factor. After disposing several slower cars, Shane slipped over the cushion late in the 53-lapper while trying to pass a lap car that allowed Overton to sneak by. Hanging onto a podium finish in the final nine circuits, Clanton notched a runner-up finish behind Overton with Dale McDowell, Ricky Weiss, and Donald McIntosh rounding out the Top-5.

His fathers memorial race at Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Ga.) on Saturday night was postponed to Nov. 21st.
