Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series Takes Country Roads to West Virginia's Ohio Valley Speedway July 16 and Tyler County Speedway July 17

SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (July 12, 2021) – The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series visits the Mountaineer State of West Virginia for a doubleheader of racing action with the Valley of Legends event at Ohio Valley Speedway in Washington, WV on Friday July 16 paying $5,000 to win and the 33rd Annual Earl Hill Memorial at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, WV on Saturday July 17 paying $5,080 to win.

Ohio Valley Speedway in Washington, WV will host the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series for the first-time ever on Friday July 16 and will feature the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Heats, Impact RaceGear B-Mains, and the 40-lap, $5,000 to win Valley of Legends main event. Joining the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series in action at Ohio Valley Speedway on Friday July 16 will be the track’s UMP Modified, Sport Mod, Sport Compact, and MWRA Mini-Wedge divisions. Activities at Ohio Valley Speedway on Friday July 16 will see the pit and general admission areas open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 6:30 p.m., with practice laps set to get underway at 7:00 p.m., followed by time trials and green flag racing. Ticket prices at Ohio Valley Speedway on Friday July 16 in the general admission area will be $20, while a pit pass will be $35.

Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, WV will be the destination for the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series (also for the first-time ever) on Saturday July 17 and will feature the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Heats, Impact RaceGear B-Mains, and the 40-lap, $5,080 to win 33rd Annual Earl Hill Memorial main event, which is run in memory of the long-time and very likable West Virginia racer who was always noted for wearing his polka-dot painters cap. Joining the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series in action at Tyler County Speedway on Saturday July 17 will be the track’s FASTRAK Late Model, UMP Modified, Edge Hotmod, Sport Mod, Bullring Bomber, and MWRA Mini-Wedge divisions. Activities at Tyler County Speedway on Saturday July 17 will see the pit and general admission areas open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 6:30 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 6:45 p.m., followed by time trials and green flag racing. Ticket prices at Tyler County Speedway on Saturday July 17 in the general admission area will be $20, while a pit pass will be $35.

The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series will sanction the Super Late Model portion of both events and the tire rule will be as follows: Left Rear/Fronts-Hoosier Rib (28.5) 1300, Hoosier (28.5) 1425; Right Rear-Hoosier (29.0) 1300 NRM, Hoosier (29.0) 1300 NRMW, Hoosier (29.0) 1425 NRM, Hoosier (29.0) 1425 NRMW (NO 29.0 size tires on the left rear and there is NO droop rule). Teams must use the same set of 4 tires for Qualifying, Heat Races, and B-Mains. For the Feature, teams may use two (2) new rear tires (a flat tire must be replaced with a used tire of the same compound and construction). The entry fee will be $75 at each event and transponders for timing/scoring will be available for rent at the track. Any driver not making the starting field each night will receive $50 tow money.

Coming into the West Virginia weekend doubleheader of racing action, Dustin Nobbe of Batesville, IN is the current Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series points leader. Devin Gilpin of Columbus, IN is currently second in tour points, while Devin Moran of Dresden, OH, Tristan Chamberlain of Richmond, IN, and Jared Hawkins of Fairmont, WV currently third through fifth in series points coming into the weekend. Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN was the most recent winner with the tour at Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, KY on July 4.
