Tyler Carpenter and Zach Milbee Steal the Show at Earl Hill Memorial's 37th Edition
The Tyler County Speedway would welcome race fans to America’s Baddest Bullring for the running of the 37th Annual Earl Hill Memorial presented by Middletown Homes featuring a pit full of race cars, sweltering heat, strawberry moon and some excited winners. Tyler Carpenter, Zach Milbee, KC Burdette, Zack Perine, Steve Magyar, Noah Bubeck, Kolton Thomas and Cruz Thomas would pick up checkered flags. The action would be hot and heavy on the track as a great track surface would set the tone for a terrific night of racing.
The highlight of the evening would be the 37th Annual Earl Hill Memorial presented by Middletown Homes for the Stutler Motorsports Super Late Models. A strong 20 car field would take flagman Todd Gorrell’s green flag with Cole Perine setting a blistering early pace. All eyes would be on Parkersburg, WV’s Tyler Carpenter as the local hot shoe would look to remain hot at the ‘Bullring’ and would begin applying steady pressure to young Perine. Carpenter would eventually work his way around Perine and set sail aboard his Kryptonite #28 machine. A furious battle behind Carpenter between Perine, Todd Brennan, Jared Hawkins (filling in for brother Jacob) and Colten Burdette that would see the top five change throughout as the ‘Bullring’ was particularly racey from top to bottom. Hawkins would eventually settle into the runner-up position and would close on Carpenter as the duo raced through heavy lapped traffic. But at the checkered flag it would be Carpenter picking up the victory in the coveted Earl Hill Memorial for the second straight year ahead of Jared Hawkins, a high flying Colten Burdette, Cole Perine and Todd Brennan. Carpenter would snare his 4th Stutler Motorsports Super Late Model win of the year at the ‘Bullring’.
In the Steel Block Late Model Series, a stout field of 23 late models would take the challenge of conquering the highbanks of the ‘Bullring’. Grandson of the late Earl Hill, Daniel Hill would set the pace early but a door to door battle with the defending Steel Block Late Model champion Zach Milbee of Poca, WV would entertain fans before Hill would jump the cushion ending his run. Milbee would set the pace and after a multitude of caution flags, some fantastic racing would see guys running high and low all over the well prepped racing surface. Race fans attention would be on Charlotte, North Carolina’s Matt Long as the driver of the familiar #55 machine would work his way from the B-Main to the runner-up spot and begin applying pressure to Milbee. An outside pass attempt on the white flag lap by Long would see the duo go side by side for a brief turn before Milbee would turn up the wick and head for the checkered flag and his first trip to the EQT Victory Lane at America’s Baddest Bullring. Following Milbee to the pay window was a valiant run by the aforementioned Long, 3rd place was a rim riding Tyler Evans from the 12th starting spot, Robbie Bostic and BJ Gregory.
In the Jenkins Auto Parts UMP Modified feature, a couple of familiar faces would set the front row as previous feature winners Tyler Stutler and KC Burdette would square off. Stutler would vault to the front and look poised for his second win of the season but Burdette would apply unrelentless pressure to the driver of the 14t. The duo would put on a fantastic show before Burdette would make the winning maneuver and take off for the win aboard the KC44. Following Burdette across the stripe was another great run by Stutler, a hard charging Shawn Jett from the 8th spot, Lance Elson and last week’s feature winner Cody Brightwell.
The race of the night would be in the Middlebourne Galaxy Food Center Sportmod division as a heck of a three car battle for the races duration would entertain. It would be Zack Perine leading the pack with a rear view mirror full of pesky Wesley Reed running the speedway’s top shelf and Tyler Spencer running the middle. You could throw a proverbial blanket over the three at times. At the checkers it was Perine scoring his first ever ‘Bullring’ feature win over Spencer, Reed (who would make a valiant last lap turn four wreckers or checkers move), Allen Clark and Kendall Hodge.
In the Sigler Fabrication Hotmod feature event it would be ‘Big Daddy’ Steve Magyar of Wileyville nabbing his second consecutive trip to the EQT Victory Lane. Magyar would vault to the front and go unchallenged as the sharp #50 would secure the popular win ahead of Brian Probst, Jason Todd, Carson Thomas and Allen Moore.
It was all Colliers, WV Noah Bubeck bagging the SCDRA 4 Cylinder feature event as the driver of the 187 would check out on the competition. Following Bubeck to the pay window was former track champion making his first appearance of the season Bill Tennant, Jason Frazier, Wesley Tennant and Mitch Eddy.
Kicking off the show in the Pathway Real Estate Professional Junior Mini Wedge division was young Kolton Thomas capturing his first win ahead of Greyson Smith and Coen Thomas. In the Senior class it was point leader Cruz Thomas picking up his first win of the year ahead of Kyndi Glover and Karson Burdette.
Be sure to join us next Saturday Night, June 29th as the Tyler County Speedway plays host to a very special night as the ‘Bullring’ ‘Gives Cancer the Black Flag’.
