USAC Divisions Clash In 2nd Annual Border War Showdown
By Ray Cunningham (Park City, KS) -- This Saturday night the USAC Midwest Wingless Racing Association will go toe to toe with their rivals to the south the USAC Wingless Sprints of Oklahoma on neutral ground at legendary 81 Speedway in Park City.
“81” has showcased dirt track racing since its inception in 1954 as Robbins Speedway, in honor of builder Jim Robbins, before later being sold to the Bill Hall family constituting a name change to 81 Speedway since the late 1950’s. And now under the leadership of the great modified champion John Allen and Staff.
Last season these USAC Sprint Car Clubs clashed on June 20th at the 3/8 mile dirt track outside of Wichita for a action packed night of racing. Leading to a victory by Topeka, Kansas, driver Wyatt Burks in the Rumsey 11w, followed by Battlefield, Missouri’s Kory Schudy, and Lincoln, Nebraska’s, Don Droud.
Burks would go on to win the 2020 MWRA championship at seasons end with 7 series wins. Meanwhile, the USAC WSO was led that night by Ty Hulsey from Owasso, Oklahoma, who would come home in 6th place, before later taking the Series championship with WSO with 2 victories last year.
In 2021 Schudy is leading the the MWRA point standings over Wesley Smith, and Burks & Chris Parkinson, in tie for 3rd place in points currently. Schudy has also won the last two races in the series at I-35 Speedway, and CMS, respectively. With Brett Wilson leading the way for the WSO with a victory, and the points lead over Ty Hulsey, and Craig Carroll.
Join us Saturday night at 81 Speedway for a great night of racing featuring the
USAC MWRA and the USAC WSO.
