"Tiffany Makes Her First Ever USAC Traxxas Silver Crown Start"

Tiffany took a huge step forward this past weekend in her racing career. For the first time ever, she strapped into a USAC Traxxas Silver Crown machine. Car owner and good friend Rick King asked Tiffany to be his driver for the “Ted Horn 100” at the DuQuoin Magic Mile Sunday, after complications kept them from entering the “Tony Bettenhausen 100” at the Springfield Mile.

Tiffany was very excited to get the opportunity to drive for Rick and she adapted quickly to the car and the speeds of racing on a mile. Practice was broken into two groups and each group was given several sessions to go out and practice. With each session, Tiffany continued to get more comfortable with the car and improved every time she hit the track.

Single lap followed soon after practice. She went out next to last in the session and timed in 13th fast overall, after jumping the cushion in Turn 4 on her lap. She joined fellow lady competitors Miranda Throckmorton and Taylor Ferns in the official starting field for the “Ted Horn 100”, making it the first time in the history of the race to have three ladies in the starting lineup.

Drivers were introduced to the fans prior to the start of the race and then it was time to strap in. Tiffany settled in and prepared for the 100 lapper to begin. As the green flew, Miranda Throckmorton and Kody Swanson made contact in Turn 2 and Tiffany did a good job avoiding the incident. Tiffany’s car took a push on lap 5 sending her into the Turn 2 wall, where she made slight contact. She was brought down pit road where the crew was able to replace a bent right front radius rod and get her back out after losing 11 laps during repairs. On lap 26 the car again took a push entering Turn 3 and Tiffany did an excellent job of keeping it out of the wall. The team decided to retire the car after this incident, ending her night prematurely. Tiffany was still credited with an 11th place finish in the event.

We would like to thank Rick King for giving Tiffany the tremendous opportunity to drive his car. Everyone involved was very excited for the opportunity to compete in the premier USAC Series. We also want to thank an awesome group of guys who came together to crew for Tiffany. Big thanks goes to her father Jim, Bob Baker, Jeff Parkes, Bubba Altig, Tony Wyzard, Justin Stephenson, and Donnie Beechler, who helped tremendously as a coach and spotter for Tiffany.

We would also like to thank our incredible supporters who made it all possible. Big thanks goes out to American Street Dreams, Carey-King Motorsports, FourWinds RV, FK Rod Ends, GoPro Performance Cameras, Hoosier Tire Midwest, K&L Equipment & Mechanical, Maroa Pub, RateWin.Com and Red Line Oil.

We will have GoPro footage up on our YouTube channel later in the week. A special thanks goes out to Jeff for doing an awesome job with the GoPro for the night!

Thank you everyone who took time to wish Tiffany good luck prior to and congratulate her after the night of racing. We truly have the best supporters in racing!
