Renegade Sprints Invades Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway This Saturday

Inside Line Promotions – FINDLAY, Ohio (Sept. 22, 2014) – The Renegade Sprints will make its series debut at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway this Saturday.

The $5,000-to-win event at the semi-banked, half-mile oval in Imperial, Pa., is the second career race for the newly formed 410ci sprint car series. The series is also hoping to surpass the 30-car mark like the inaugural event one month ago.

“We’re trying to build on our first event and we’re thankful that Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway has come on board for Saturday’s race,” Renegade Sprints President Shane Helms said. “We are all very excited about this weekend. The racing should be stellar and we have some great fan interaction planned as well.”

Tim Shaffer, who hails from nearby Aliquippa, Pa., and inaugural Renegade Sprints winner Randy Hannagan are two of the veteran drivers expected to compete for the top prize. Greg Wilson, who was the first driver to sign a contract with the Renegade Sprints, will also be making his series debut after missing the inaugural event because of a medical issue.

“I think it’s great that Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway is seeing what we’re about,” he said. “I’m really excited that they are taking the opportunity to give us a chance.”

Wilson said it has been 15-to-20 years since he has raced at the big track.

Meanwhile, Chad Kemenah will be making his debut at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway along with numerous other competitors.

“We know as a group going into this that this could be a feather in our cap,” he said. “If this goes off as well as we hope, and I feel it will, it will be huge. They don’t get big numbers of cars at that facility. If we can go in there and bring in some good quality race cars that hasn’t been seen there, that’s going to speak volumes.”

Front gates are scheduled to open at 3 p.m. with qualifying at 5 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.
