RAIN HALTS PPMS

Imperial, PA (July 23, 2016)  The chance of rain was only 20 percent.  It didn’t even merit a mention in some of the forecasts.  However, pop up showers forced the racing program to be called out at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Saturday night.

“It hit in two waves,” said Ben Miley of Miley Motorsports, a member of the family that owns and operates the speedway, speaking of the rain that hit approximately a half hour prior to the 5:00 PM gate opening time.  “The first wave, we probably could have survived it.  The second wave did us in.  We would have needed sunshine for a couple hours, and even with that, it would have taken us until 8:00 to get the track into racing shape.  Canceling the races was the only decision that we could make.”

Racing continues at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Saturday night, July 30, as the fastest cars on dirt, the winged 410 sprint cars, make a special appearance on the area’s fastest speedway.   Tony Stewart’s Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions winged 410 sprint cars will compete in the Third Annual Falconi’s Moon Township Automotive “Sprint Monster.”  The Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro Late Models will compete in a Sizzler event paying $1,000 to the winner.  The Sunoco Race Fuels Sportsman will complete the three division program of racing, for their final tune-up for the “Cruise America PENNational,” sanctioned by the Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Series, on August 6.  This event will be a part of the three day “I-79 Summer Shootout,” with companion events at Eriez Speedway near Erie, PA on Friday, and Tri-City Raceway Park near Franklin, PA on Sunday.  The Late Models, Hobby Stocks, and Young Guns will not be in competition on this night.  Gates open at 5:00, with warm-ups at 6:00 and racing at 7:00.  The track is located just south of the Noblestown exit of U.S. Route 22, or 170 Kelso Road in Imperial, PA, for GPS purposes.  The track phone is 724-695-3363 on race days, or call 412-279-RACE.  For complete information please visit the track website at www.ppms.com .

Saturday, August 13 – Sherwin Williams Night, as the RUSH Modifieds join an Action Event featuring the Diehl Automotive Super Late Models, Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro Late Models, Sunoco Race Fuels Sportsman, Miley BP Car Wash Hobby Stocks, and Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns.   Rosedale Tech Students admitted free.

Saturday, August 20 – Colussy Chevrolet presents Nostalgia Night, Kids Bike Races plus AAA Members receive $5 discount admission.  An Action Event featuring the Diehl Automotive Super Late Models, Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro Late Models, Sunoco Race Fuels Sportsman, Miley BP Car Wash Hobby Stocks, and Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns, plus the CarSmile Wiperblades “Thunder on the Dirt” Vintage Racing Series.
